Hi guys,

Does anyone have an electronic version of the Nepal AIP (even if it's out of date - for info only). The Nepal CAA website has very little info, and no one answers the phones over there during their business hours. No response yet from about e-mails sent to about 10 different e-mail addresses.

How about gouge?

Approaches, departures, runway info, weather, ATC, customs...whatever you might have! How about electronic FOM or OM-C references?

I have heard rumors of ox on runways...this true?

Whatever you have!

Thanks,

Camper

I don't have any info available at this time, but our company goes in there once in a while. My friend also flies his A 320 into Kathmandu regularly. There is scheduled airline service into Kathmandu by several top airlines ( Cathay Pacific, Dragon Air, Thai, etc). It has become a tourist destination because of the newly formed ECO tours of the Himalaya's. Can you ask your flight plan provider for most info? The approach plates are pretty straight forward, straight in VOR approach with many step downs. A breeze if you can use VNAV to MDA. The airport is about 4400' field elevation but is in a valley surrounded by mountains some as high as 22,000'. I'll dig around and see if I can come up with an electronic copy of the info you need. I would ask Universal or whoever you use for flight planning for any info as they can probably get you on the right track.

Thanks, hawker! PM me if/when you find electronic files. You guys are great!

Was in there about two years ago. Prior to going in there I had to preform all the approaches at FlightSafety, then fax the paperwork showing that I infact did it to the Nepalise CAA. I'm sure you know this too, but you need a visa.

Don't give away all the secrets!!!.....Some of the fun/adventure of overseas flying (outside of a major/121/etc) is getting to the destination without all the required stuff and having to deal with it on the fly!........

How did you contact the Nepalese CAA? The e-mail addresses on the website get me no replies.
You said you FAX'ed it over?
What training was required?
Do they really have no radar?

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the info...
