In light of age 65, i think it's appropriate for those in negotiations not to settle for equal % raises that see the lion share of the money on the table go to captains- but rather have an equal $$ raise.

ie: %:

captain $170... 5% = $8.5
fo- $100.... 5% = $5

why the disparity?
especially since every captain just got a windfall financially in having the ability to work 5 more years- delaying our upgrades and all pilots movement.

Seems much fairer to give a straight dollar figure raise across the board- the greater % raises going to the most junior and thus the most affected by age 65-

i think one thing we all need is a stipulation that says if inflation goes above a certain number our raises will at least be equal to the consumer price index.

With the strong potential for double-digit inflation over the next several years we are setting ourselves up for significantly reduced QOL if we dont have such a provision in our contracts.

i'm not talking about raises- there's one on the table at both usair and southwest. I'm talking about how the money on the table is divided up among the pilot group. i'm talking about how divided we are as pilot groups. And Capt v FO is a big one- I don't know if i've seen the Capt v FO this bad since "B"-scales- and it would go a huge way if the Capts would give up an equal % raise for an equal dollar amount raise.

What is the break down at the "majors"? At ASA it has always been that FOs make 60% of CAs pay, which is pretty high in the "regional" world. Most just top out because you will upgrade in a few months! So why bother worrying about the FO rates?

Pretty sure the "minors" will be moving backwards here pretty quick. If you think that a job flying a replacement jet is a career you are pretty off kilter.
