Question... if as Jerry says is true and the 50's are no longer profitable, and skywest/asa is/are limited on 70/90's then why aren't they beating down the door of canadair to swap out 50's for Q's? We all know canadair is fully subsidized by the canadian government and has the luxury of operating at a loss into perpetuity. Why not trade unprofitiable 50's for 400's or tell them to start making 50 seat turbo props again? The canadians get jobs building those things and we get profitable aircraft?

or why we didnt get a boatload of ATR 500's.

You can't trade a 50 seat RJ for a Q400. Q400 is valued a bunch higher then a CRJ.
Matter a fact right now you can't trade a 50 seat RJ for nothing.

ATR 600's look like nice birds and are about 10 million dollars cheaper then the Q400.

SH stated in a RGT class awhile ago that this is the bird ASA would get (ATR)if there was another Turboprop at ASA. It's already on the certificate so the time it would take to get it rolling is minimal compared to anything else.

SH has said alot of things in recurrent class. Has even 50% of it been true?

Delta does not like turbo props. The ones they just acquired will be going away.

FWIW Aviation International News just had a short article on the ATR600. says they are getting ready to go on a US sales tour.

The 600's look nice, but doesn't bombardier own the Q400 now? that is why i said they would trade them for 50's. Canada subsidizes this company so if they take a loss it doesnt matter because the company exists just to have jobs.

Just seems that if we can get 33% more seats per segment and get an even swap, then why not.

Jerry hasn't said as to whether Skywest/ASA will buy them but he has said that the new Bombardier C series would be the perfect plane to have. He also said that Bombardier was planning on cancelling the program a couple of years ago but he and 3 other airline executives (he didnt say who they were) talked Bombardier out of doing that. Hmmm! Why would they do that?
