The search for AF 447 boxes

And who else do you want to look for them? It was an Air France airplane.
If it had been a Delta or American Airlines flight, I am sure the US Navy would be looking for them.

well...i wouldn't have a problem with it minus one important issue. there are A LOT of AIRBUS a/c flying around operated by american carriers and pilots. it is in their best interest to find out what "really" happened to the AF A330. i would like to think when manufacturers determine a design flaw...the fix it, and warn ALL carriers operating their equipment.

that is why i think there should be some sort of "neutral oversight"

And there are lots of European airlines flying Boeing equipment, being flown by European pilots. If a 767 owned by an American airline crashes in the Atlantic, would you expect the British Navy, the Spanish Navy, the French Navy, and the German Navy to take the responsibility of looking for the boxes? It would be in their best interest to find out what "really" happened to the B767.

It doesn't make any sense, does it?

yes...it is called "neutral oversight." if a boeing went down in the atlantic, a representative(s) from other countries flying boeings could oversee the us navy's salvaging operation. perfect? no. but do you really think a french naval vessel will find a black box that could cause more severe economic repercussions to France in today's depressed economy? now that doesn't make sense does it?

No, it doesn't make sense.
 
They don't need the black boxes. Apparently French Investigators are so good, that they are able to reverse the theory and overwhelming evidence that the plane broke up in flight, and instead, assert a new theory that the plane crashed on it's "belly" at high speed. All this with no Flight Data Recorder, no Cockpit Voice Recorder and no main wreckage. "No inflight break-up!" the French Investigators say. Thank Goodness!
