Per APC...Looks like they are hiring into the fall...

Mins??

Is this the beginning of movement in the industry???
 
Their web site does not show any pilot positions being open.
 
I sure hope it's the 717. Those are so much newer with the glass cockpits! I'd even pay to get a job in that!

So would an aspiring Gulfstream pilot.
 
They haven't put up the information on the website yet, but I'm told it's coming soon. From what I've heard the interviews will start later this summer, and classes start in the fall. Probably 30 to 40 new-hires this fall, and more in late 2010 as more A330's start arriving.

This newest class of new-hires will be going into both the 767 and the 717. Chances are that since the growth next year is on the widebody side, there will be plenty of spots on both sides of the pilot list.

As for mins - I don't have a clue. Of course you'll need ATP mins at least, but to be competitive, probably3k-4k hours, time in jets, and some connection to the islands or someone who works there. Without a recommendation it will be awfuly hard to get a job here.

Hopefully with the Airbi arriving they'd like someone with Airbus time, and over water experience!
 
I would think competitive mins would be around the 8-10,000 hr range with time in the 767. Lots of people like that on the street right now and more on the way. Sad but true.....

Don't know for sure, but I would guess most of the guys on the sreet are more likely guys with lots of RJ experience, who took a shot at some majors during the 2005-2008 hiring. Other than some TWA guys from 8-9 years ago, I don't know where a lot of guys with 767 time would be on the street from. Again, just guessing, but the guys on furlough from the majors/nationals, would be more likely to be 737/A320 type guys. That or very low time RJ guys on furlough from the regionals.

I could be wrong though, it did happen once before a long time ago :D.
 
I know that the HR dept. ranks the people they bring in to interview by a number of factors including TT, jet time, and types of aircraft flown. But I also know several people hired recently with maybe 3k or 4k hours. You also pretty much require a personal recommendation from a current HA pilot. A lot depends on your personality too, because since HR took over the hiring you have to go through a gauntlet of psych tests and interviews with HR and FA personnel. The big question is not only if you can fly the plane, but are you the type of person we wouldn't mind spending 12 hours with in the cockpit between HNL and SYD? This is Hawaii after all, and judging by our average HA pilot, you should be a good stick with a relaxed personality; arrogant a-holes needn't apply. :D

FA personel have input on pilot hiring? Are you serious! If only pilots could have input on FA hiring.... there would be a dramatic change!

If you applied last time they were hiring, you can sign in now on the company website and update all of your info/application/resume.

My guess would be if you dont have one online with them already, you will have to wait until they post the open position to start an application.

Relax, I am just saying, If you have to ask what the minimum flight time is, then you don't have that much flight time to begin with. Hawaiian has always held internal recommendations extremely high, and rightfully so. Your contact on the inside will put you in touch with HR. It is just the way the game is played.

n now is how much do you charge to do an internal rec? :D
 
There are a lot of high time ATA guys on the street with international and Hawaii experience that would fit the bill very well.
