Now, I know for a fact that NW/DL does not have an IAD hub. Compass HQ is in the IAD area, an area I know well, having flown for ACA. Asked around and the response was that it had to do with Compass buying Independence Air's certificate. But still... since they fly out of MSP and the other NW hubs, why would they keep the HQ in IAD, a place where there is no big NW presence? And lastly, is their a Compass base in IAD as well?

Thx

early on most if not all managment were ACA guys who lived in IAD. It was easier to keep the CRJ on the certificate with those guys on board.

However next year HQ will move to MSP I think the same location were NWA currently has SOC

We used to have an IAD base when the crj was flying but no longer

Can Compass outsource for other carriers? I would not think that the NWA MEC would have allowed that--but maybe so! Maybe there is a plan to scarf up some UAL feed opportunities.

Thanks Bohica. When you did have the CRJ base, how did they justify that as a base, with little to zero NW presence? Did every trip start with a leg from IAD-MSP, IAD-DTW and IAD-MEM?

Before we had any E175. I think April 07 until August 07. All the airplane did was IAD-MSP-IAD.

it was just one CRJ

Yup it was 601XJ, one of the 2 CR2's delivered to Mesaba before the scam bankruptcy..... That plane was given to Compass to keep the certificate alive until the E175's started showing up. The other CR2, 602XJ was left as the lone jet at Mesaba during the bankruptcy to keep the fleet type alive til the CRJ900's started showing up summer of 2007. Eventually 601 came back to Mesaba after it wasn't needed at Compass.

How they' going to keep that DL staple number they're fighting for when they're flying for others? How are DL pilots gonna flow down and fly UAL?

Good luck
