Was out at Simuflite for recurrent. Came home- flew a couple of trips. Got called in for the bad news.

Cutbacks + Cutbacks= 2 weeks

Although I have to say I saw the writing on the wall.
Last year I flew about 600hrs. This year it was looking like 100 maybe 150 hrs.

Luckily I got had something lined up. But these days- who knows.

I was in a dream world for a while. Its now obvious that corporate aviation has almost completely dried up.

I landed on a Friday night at 2230 at night back in January. Finished clearing customs at 2300. Got the airplane all buttoned up by 2330. Boss was waiting in the office for both of us. Nothing like getting the boot at 2330 on a Friday night. A real class act. The company and the boss. Not.

********************ing unbelievable! I'm still hanging on but these days who knows. Good luck to everybody!

yep i'm still hanging on by a thread right now too. owner is turning into a deadbeat. hang in there guys.

Don't feel bad. My former employer is letting pilots go during their grace month for recurrent.

They just dumped four more today.

That's seven since Jan. 13th. Not many left.

I have to say- they did it with class. The chief pilot said they wanted to make cuts prior to recurrent, but he didn't have to heart to let my currency run out and let me go.

I also got a month of pay plus 2 weeks I had left for vacation.

This is the first time I've been laid off in my career. I I knew it was bad out there, but not this bad.

Just have to roll with the punches and see what happens.

I've have another gig lined up, but no concrete start day.

Who knows?

Good luck guys.

It is never easy. I have been kicked to the curb three times in my career. Each time, my career actually advanced, after the layoff. Looking back, it was my own initiative and some luck that got it done. The dark clouds will blow buy and there will be hiring again.

Good luck with the new gig.
