Movement at Colgan

Hey has anyone heard anything about some movement at CJC? I have heard that there will be some hiring soon.


Maybe even a retirement?

The Pinnacle Corp annual report just said Colgan had just retired 7 airplanes in the fourth quarter without replacement. Hard to believe the staffing would be short after that kind of fleet reduction but are you running short on crews?

They have been firing people left and right but still overstaffed. a few might get picked up in the mean time but I doubt it. The question is will Colgan still get the 15 more Qs in 2010. Then there will be hiring.

From what I heard- if Continental backs out, they would be breaking the contract they signed with Colgan/PNCL and therefore would owe them upwards of $30 million.

Again that is just what I heard.

I remember in early 2005 IAH had just opened. Surprised everyone. I was transitioning from the 1900 to the Saab. 1900 FO's were pissed that they had to have 500 in type to upgrade. The 500 just could not come fast enough, and it was "BS" that the company required that much. All kinds of talk about the Saab 2000 being on the property in 2006. That seemed somewhat reasonable. I never would have thought it would be a Q400.

In 2003 there was about zero movement, and they had a longevity freeze on pay rates. Sucked. I remember in the late summer of 2003 they ran a class of 4 upgrades on the 1900 and that was big news. Each pilot had over 3000 hours total time.

In 2004 pilots were quiting in "entire classes" to go to the jet regionals. At one point many checkairman were sitting in the right seat just to keep the flights running.

Posted on other board that rumor going around IAH crewroom is that it will possibly be closed. Anyone else heard this?

I have flown with guys from Mesa recently that said the 1900 upgrade there went as low as a few months or weeks. That would have been 2007 I believe.
