Does anybody know if you can deduct the cost for a new headset? I think I might have heard somewhere that you can only deduct it if it is useful for less than one year, but I am not sure. Thanks in advance.

If I bought a new headset to wear at work then I would certainly deduct it. (I'm no CPA, but if there's any doubt... it gets deducted.)

I would think that it falls under "tools and supplies used in your work" especially if they don't already provide headsets.

I thought I remembered reading something about the one year thing as well. Maybe it has something to do with deducting depreciation otherwise?

i don't know about the 1 year deal. I deducted mine since my company does not reimburse for them. I think you can either do a 1 time deduction or deduct the depreciation every year. I just did a 1 time deduction.
