Gee, we might furlough IF things don't get better by the time the usual post-summer reduction comes along IF they won't need everyone for the holiday bump IF we park the EMB's IF we can't agree on a leave policy IF...
Nothing to see here, move along.
Not trying to beat a dead horse. I just get the feeling that some folks at Skywest believe they are immune to furlough. All I am gonna say is, get your finances in order. Consider the dismal earnings report as a shot across the bow. The stock is tumbling and Jerry, Chip, Brad, etc. are under scrutany from the share holders. BTW, I don't work for SkyWest and therefor don't get the SAPA updates. My source is someone within the SGU inner circle. But hey, carry on, nothing to see here.
dismal earnings report?
you make it sound like skywest was in the red like some other regionals...

Really, there isn't anything to see. September may be different, but only time will tell. It's February.
A shot across the bow: A warning that I might lose a regional job that I love so much and that I get payed so well to do and is my whole purpose for living.
Yeah, I'm trembling in fear.

God help me if I have to move to an island and start SCUBA instructing.
Maybe I ought to learn how to be a truck driver, what's the number of that truck driving school we saw on TV, Truck Masters I think it is, I might need that

Just my opinion here, but...when you start to see things like this...:

...anyone with half a brain would have to begin to worry a little.
SKW has 12 airplanes worth of crews in the YX/MKE operation...running about 100 flights a day for a carrier that isn't even a shadow of what it once was and could very well not be around next week. Lose that portion of the overall operation and, suddenly, your already fat crew roster is morbidly obese.
Plus I'm hearing rumbles that all's not well with DL management.

I'm hearing rumbles in my pants.
If you don't work at SkyWest how are you getting the feeling that people believe they are immune to furlough? Forum boards?
ok...you don't work for skywest but you seem to have inside information on us. Secondly your aircraft types indicate skywest aircraft. Your screename implies you work for skywest.
You're probably one of those creepy people that uses internet dating too aren't you?
While I appreciate this concern you have for our pilot group I truly think that you are just stirring the pot and wishing bad on us.
As they say "Misery loves company"
I have it from a very reliable source at SkyWest that unless something significant changes between now and then, furloughs are coming in the fall. Good luck guys.
Please! Your reliable source is an email from SAPA that there's no furloughs till atleast the fall. You shouldn't read into that cause what it was saying is that the UAL and DAL schedules given to Skywest so far only go to the fall, so we just don't know what UAL or DAL will do at that point. They could cut Skywest flights at that point or maybe not. They could cut any regional's flights or add. They probably don't know themselves at this point themselves. So please stop trying to stir up some trouble.
Capacity reductions at majors do not necessarily mean reduction at regionals. In fact, the opposite is more probable. Skywest has NEVER furloughed pilots nor have they given any indication that they might. I believe they recognize that furloughs have a cost far beyond the money saved - retraining, no one picking up open time or answering their phones, morale costs, etc. It will be a last resort. The sky isn't falling but I'm digging out my raincoat.
BTW, I'm one of those creepy types that used the computer datin' base. Works great when you want to meet someone outside the industry. Married 9 years.

Never say never.
Are they asking pilots to LOAs for an extended period of time? Are they trying to find additional flying for the a/c that came from your Midwest Express side?
If you answered yes, which we all know you should have, to these questions then you should be concerned about the "F" word at Skywest.
you seem to almost want skywest to let people go...seems like this thread gets your jollys off.
you seem to almost want skywest to let people go...seems like this thread gets your jollys off. That news segment means nothing and they are off on many things they said. If you've moved on to someplace else and have nothing better to do than this crap give me a call and I'll send you $15 to go get a hooker.
I agree. If you had any kind of inside info, you would have known that this is old news. Yet you come on here and stir the pot anyway. For that, you suck.
