I have it from a very reliable source at SkyWest that unless something significant changes between now and then, furloughs are coming in the fall. Good luck guys.

That gives Obama a little breathing room, give this stimulus package a few weeks and my guess is Delta and the rest will begin hiring again. There will be no need for furloughs as hundreds will move up and out.

I hope your right, but right now with the economy in its current state I only see passenger loads decreasing.

Lets hope for a turnaround soon.

Please! Your reliable source is an email from SAPA that there's no furloughs till atleast the fall. You shouldn't read into that cause what it was saying is that the UAL and DAL schedules given to Skywest so far only go to the fall, so we just don't know what UAL or DAL will do at that point. They could cut Skywest flights at that point or maybe not. They could cut any regional's flights or add. They probably don't know themselves at this point themselves. So please stop trying to stir up some trouble.

...idiot...

Hey tell me what does your crystal ball tell you about your airline in nine months from now?

Um forgive me but, hasn't this been spoken about very openly for quite some time? And frankly even if it was some sort of secret, shouldn't it be quite obvious to all affected.

Wow Skywest Pylot, you have just posted a well-balanced, fascinating, and inspiring post... On that note, I would like to congratulate you on being a .......... tool.

Reliable source or not, common sense would have junior pilots readying their back up plans. Don't wait until it's too late.

Reliable or not many friends that I have at SkyWest fear that exact scenario, hope it is not true for everyone's sake.

Just my opinion here, but...when you start to see things like this...:

http://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/stories/2009/02/02/daily21.html

http://www.jsonline.com/business/38579577.html

...anyone with half a brain would have to begin to worry a little.

SKW has 12 airplanes worth of crews in the YX/MKE operation...running about 100 flights a day for a carrier that isn't even a shadow of what it once was and could very well not be around next week. Lose that portion of the overall operation and, suddenly, your already fat crew roster is morbidly obese.

I hope this is sarcasm.... There is no chance this will do anyone any good. We are simply putting a couple of generations deeply in debt to make a political play.

-We have truly elected the worst president in history-if you doubt me, just get back to me in a couple of years-when we are all eating alpo and living in carboard accomodations! I'll be in the nice, thick one that says "whirlpool," yep-down by the river...

Reminds me of a Mark Twain quote that I just read yesterday:

"There are two times in a man's life when he should not speculate: when he can't afford it, and when he can."

So much could happen between now and the Fall that it's not even worth discussing.

(And in making that statement, I think I may have singlehandedly marginalized flightinfo.)

Anyway guys, have fun working yourselves up into a tizzy over this. I shall not be joining you.

My concern is the United flying...United is in bad shape and more than half of Skywest flying is for United...

Bhahahahahahaha

I give it less than 6 months.

I haven't heard anything about VLOA or part time lines for weeks now. I guess no news is good news - for now, maybe.

It won't be that bad but I do think a lot of the country was duped with the Obama mania and his smooth talk which I guarantee most have no idea what he's saying other than it sounds good. You know the folks that were parading around the streets knowing nothing about the guy other than he's young and is going to bring hope and find jobs for us.

Yes in the last 4 years, the US was horribly mismanaged by Bush but it doesn't mean we need a socialist to turn things around. Too late. France seems like they're doing ok though. Unemployment at what 15%?

Yeah, we should cut taxes... because that doesn't cost anything... right? Oh yeah, except the 1.3 trillion in taxes Bush cut early on. Somehow this .8 trillion is worse? WTF are you guys talking about?

Apparently you did not read Obamas stimulus plan has 280 billion in tax cuts.

No news means that management was not willing to go for SAPAs proposals. That means instead of getting some guys to go on their own, management is more likely to furlough. No news = bad news.

I would agree with that. Just get it over with now.

What? It was ok when Bush spent trillions of dollars trying to build and stimulate Iraqs economy? Now Obama is spending a small fraction compared to George (not-for-big-spending-or-nation-building) Bush and he is the worst President ever? WTF?

Your just like 'hope he fails' Limbaugh. I am starting to think the only way republicans will be happy is if we really are living in boxes down by the river. Then they can say I told you so....

Stop being so spiteful and support your President. I sucked it up for Bush and gave him the benifit of the doubt. At least this President is keeping the money in America.
