Comair posted another furlough list tonight. Nothing we didn't expect, but it's the fact that they sent it out the night before Thanksgiving.
I'm not one of the guys who thinks the company does vindictive and tried to personally piss the pilots off.
But this is crap. Have some tact. Pay the guy to come into work Friday for 10 minutes and send the email out.
We've got another 30 pilots to be furloughed according to their 120 announced. I bet that one will come out on Christmas Eve.

I really hope there will be some good news for you guys with the passing of the new year... something's gotta give.

Pretty rotten timing on the announcement though... someone has a case of cranial-rectal insertion on that one.

Sources say that if DAL hires in the interim while Comair has furloughed pilots, that Comair pilots will be allowed to interview and be hired at DAL without giving up their furloughed spot at Comair. DAL pilots realize that the pilots being furloughed at Comair had nothing to do with the vindictive and nearsighted pilots at Comair post 9/11.

Well, you should be thankful, you have a week extra now to search for a job. They want you guys out asap otherwise there is no reason to give out a furlough notice months ahead of time.

Hmmm... I didn't know Delta pilots dictated Delta hiring policies, nor did I know that Comair pilots were responsible for hiring at their airline.

You really are "full of luv" aren't ya?

Full of LUV,

I hate to see guys getting furloughed but that did make me laugh and you can thank JC for that joke!

With all these furloughs (and I'm assuming the associated scale-back in flying) which company is picking up the flying? I would certainly hope not another ALPA carrier...

The 14 or 15 -900's that were to come to Comair, were redirected to Mesaba. Not sure if they're ALPA or not.

They're alpa... I think that's why cmr has pref hiring with mesaba.
Not because CMR management knows we're shutting down our doors and trying to help the pilots out? :D

Even if that's true (which I doubt), what if Delta doesn't hire in the interim?

comair doesn't have any sort of preferential hiring with Mesaba, nor does xjet. i can tell you with 100% confidence they do not. Thats a agreement that that two alpa's made. HR & flight ops dictates who mesaba hires, and i know for certain no agreement exists that HR recognizes!! 110% positive!.

the 900's that xj is getting are the freedom crj-900's and they were already on property with them, as well as the ones slated for delivery.

You are correct. But Comair's VP of Ops sent out an email stating we'd get 14 more 900's, followed by a new bid.
Then a week or two later came out with another email stating that the bid had been cancelled because those airplanes were redirected to Mesaba.
They never touched the property here, but they had planned for them to come here....for a week or two.

Comair management has never been good at treating its employees like actual people.

Don't forget the 14th CRJ900 that was originally promised to us in April of 2007 by Delta that was yanked from us a few weeks ago to go over to Mesaba.

It's a crappy situation for Comair, but you should know better than to believe a rumor about new airplanes until they are sitting at your gate. You can't lose something that you never had.

It's one thing to tell us they're coming on property.
It's another when they send out a new bid for these airplanes.

This is Bornhorst getting revenge for the strike plain and simple
I don't know about getting even for the strike, but Bornhorst was managing director at Comair during the bankruptcy. Some of the rhetoric from the pilots did get pretty ugly during that time. He might still have some hard feelings.

I'm not saying that the pilots should have rolled over. Just the way things seem to have turned out.

More F/As are getting the ax too. Just read RP's crew forecasting and planning memo. Around 40-50 supposedly. I heard 80. You're right on December 23 or 24 we'll see another furlough announcement and on January 1 2009 another. I wish Bendoraitis would just tell us he came here to dismantle us and get it over with as quickly and painlessly as possible.

If he were, this place would empty out so darn fast.....well, except for the guys who have been here for 25+yrs.

You know, those of us that were and are being furloughed were not around when DAL and CMR had their post 9/11 issues. I was 16 years old when 9/11 happened and to carry a grudge on the next generation of Comair pilots for doing nothing to you isnt really fair. Looking back, I dont think what our MEC did was fair or right. Even though the pilot group at OH doesnt do much of anything in the hiring process... our MEC could have gone to management and lobbied on the DL pilots behalf. If that same situation happened today, I'd welcome as many of you at OH as we could take. Not all of us agree with our MEC.
