What kind of scope protection do the SWA pilot have? Can't they just nip this in the bud?

It's all about internal vs. external locust of control.

By the time someone reaches my age, the window of "learning to spell" has come and gone. I am forever stuck in mediocrity.
Please feel free to put me on your ignore list.

Yeah, but what does a bug have to do with it?

Simple. If you're making the coin on the flights you schedule 1 hour turns. Or whatever they need to be. And please. Look at your trip sheet. Notice the amount of 35 minute turns? They are all over the place and this is WITH the company bragging about us pushing early.

Gup

Exactly, Gup, and the 35 min turns work. Do you know if anybody's making money on Mexico flying right now...what are the projections?? No!
Aubie, read my first post, please...Philly DOES work, and often on a 35 min turn. Does Cabo...NO...does Mazatlan...maybe...Cancun? WE DON'T KNOW, do we? So why would we go out and do something we don't know about when we have MANY expansion opportunites here in the states? Or, better yet, we can make money off of another airline that DOES know the ins and outs of Mexico flying. It's not like we're saying we can never expand internationally, just seems like a bad idea when the economy's in the toilet, but we can still make money by LOOSELY joining with another company...
Remember, not so long ago, other SWA pilot experts (who are still here, but it's difficult to find one) were taking HK "to the mat" trying to get B Funds at SWA...good thing they didn't prevail. Also, 95% of what you see on the forum is the 5% from each spectrum....

It's pretty strong. If the agreement is violated the company and union will meet "at the earliest opportunity" to talk about it. That's right - to TALK about the violation.

Gup

We need to learn how to use autothrottles and VNAV first. That will only take a yr or two. Look how long it took to learn autobrakes. Then we can get online training for international flying and that shouldn't take more than 1-2 yrs.
I happen to agree with Whataburger as to how the company treats us. I also believe we are limited to how and where we fly because we have to many dinosaurs in training. Starting with BT. If we could get a training section that didn't have so many retired pilots in it we could progress.

You've got a lot of one runway, non-radar, terrain factor airports in Mexico. SWA is going to try to game it up just like it's Austin, TX and it ain't going to work. To the extent we know what your flying behavior will cause problems down there, will highlight the same behavior we shouldn't have to put up with here. But you get away with it in the US. I think GK is factoring this in. He doesn't want to lose that.
