I don't think that anything smaller than an A330/777/744 will have the CASM to do what they want to do. And there are 744's available on the used market, no ETOPS required.

It is $13 for the leg to Keflavik, then $1,500 to go anywhere from there.

Haven't you heard, Iceland needs the money.

the 800 has the legs to do it

Depending on pax configuration the 737 -800 does have the range and payload capability to go STAN or DUB to EWR/JFK. ATA was starting to do it with Military flights before April 3.

Cheap Flights expensive snacks and drinks

The flights maybe cheap but a bottle of water will probably cost $10, beer at $20 and wine at $25/glass, if you ask for a vodka and coke you will be looking at $35 at least.
The Irish will hate this as we like to have a party when we fly. you can't afford to gte drunk at those prices

OK, that was funny... :)

Icelandic women - the most beautiful women on the face of the earth. *sigh* What a great weekend THAT was - Reykjavik, though for us. Captain took one to the hotel, I took one to the hotel, short little Phillipino Flight Engineer took TWO. Greedy little bastard. ;)

Wonder if any of those girls need "sponsorship" out of their bankrupt country. :D

ya think spirit or jetblue's yields are low, ryanair'll be much worse. I really help they don't come over here.

Anyone know how much Ryanair pilots get paid?

The article mentions service to LAX and SFO - I don't think the 800 can quite make it that far. Even so, an airplane completely full of $12 tickets won't even come close to paying for the fuel required to make the east coast from Europe. Their business class will have to be "very expensive" indeed.
