Anyone here have any experience dispatching for a corporation fleet of aircraft? I'm sure it's not nearly the same compared to 121 dispatching, but I'm guessing the pay might be better, especially if you're working for a large, national corporation. I used to work for a large fractional, and I didn't really enjoy it, but I'm wondering how working for a corporation would compare? I'm just really frustrated with how little I'm getting paid in this profession compared to the education and experience I have. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that after 4 years of dispatching experience, that I'd actually be making less now than what I did when I first started dispatching. I mean seriously, what kind of S*** is that? Your experience goes up, but your pay goes down! And I'm educated....4 year degree, commercial/multi pilot license.....and still, nothing to show for it! I mean seriously, a job under 30K/year after all of this? It seems like no majors will be hiring anytime soon, so no room to increase my finances there.....is corporate maybe just the way to go? Sorry for my rant, but I'm hitting the peak of my frustrations.

I schedule airplanes for a pretty large corporate flight department. I do have a dispatch certificate but since we are part 91 I don't use it. Pretty much we are a flight department run by pilots and only for pilots with everyone else being bottom feeders. Our company executives are great but all they see is that they get what they want. I would not say I am an executive babysitter but more of a pilot babysitter. The money is great! But other than that it sucks.

BG,

Where are you now? I have to agree with the rest of these guys, at least for the immediate future there is no oppurtunity out there for aviation in general. I would look into doing something else while you are still young. And if you are making less than 30k you should be able to start at something new and work your way up. I might be joining you out there soon so I sympathize.

I might try to do the railroads....maybe the oil biz....hell, if you can't beat the bastards, you might as well join em.

Ahhh, the tie that binds all of us in our little niche of the industry together. :D
Lithstrip on here was a Champion dispatcher to the bitter end and is at a railroad now, so...
My 22 year old cousin is a train dispatcher for BNSF...making double what I'm making. Believe me, I've considered making the move.

Really? It seems really hard to find out information about train dispatching. I've applied to Norfolk Southern a few times, but always get rejected...even though it appears I'm meeting their requirements. Some rails demand that you go to a particular school to learn how to train dispatch. I think BSNF might be one of them.
