20 737 cpt and 15 737 FO positions will be gone. For a total of 35 pilots gone; come Jan 2009.

Well good thing we allowed them to home school us so they could axe some more folks.

Look if they can't give us a pay raise than lets just close the doors I can do something else.

It stinks. I have a buddy in that group. What a cruddy Christmas present for he and his three kiddos!

Yeah over 130 aircraft and they are closing the doors. Out of CLT today over sold=???

There will be more in the future for other airlines!!!!!

Don't worry Obama will spread the wealth for us all unemployed folks. The last two years Democrats have been in Control AND =NOTHING !!!

Socialism will take care of us all=GOV in all of our lives=GREAT

Dude please don't hijack this thread with your political foolishness. There are some good pilots at AirTran that will be losing their jobs at the beginning of the year. AirTran management has said they can make a profit with fuel at $110 dollars a barrel. Fuel is currently trading between $70 and $80 dollars a barrel. Capacity is down and prices are up. Also, if you go to AirTran's website and look under investor relations/earnings as of 10/10/08, they are forecasting a $37 million dollar profit for all of 2009.
The question we should all be asking, what gives? What is going on? Something is not right. Is this a negotiating scare tactic? AirTran wants a 10-15% percent paycut from its pilots. Is this a strong arm tactic they are using to attempt to scare pilots?
Scarlet, this is not the time or place for your political views. Start your own thread. Thank you!

Exactly please dont post that type of political crap on this thread. This is about Airtran and the pilots that are about to lose their jobs.

Every flight is either sold to 60 or WAY oversold. Well, they show as over sold, but you know all those vouchers we they have been handing out to all those people we screwed in ATL over the last few years. I bet while the flight shows as over booked many of the seat are unpaid. I am just guessing. But why would anyone ride airtran if Delta, or Grayhound, is the same price.
