There has never been any realistic indication that we have reached peak.

The same conspiracy theorists and wackjobs have been crying peak oil since the 1970's. I have to give them some credit on their strategy...unlike with most tin-foil-hat nonsense they are playing the broken clock principle: EVENTUALLY they will be right if they keep it up long enough.

Peak oil is very hard hard to predict because advancing technology and rising prices makes locating and exploiting new or previously non-economical reserves practical.

I believe that someday we will reach the point were we can no longer substain using 80-85 million barells a day but I don't believe that will occur in 2010-2012 like the standard peak oil graph indicates. There is plenty of oil to keep us going at our present consumption rate for the rest of our lifetime but it will become more and more expensive as time goes on. We will have a few years of extremely high prices and then it will settle back down (that is the trend of the past 30 years) but we will never see cheap oil and gas again. It is in our best interest to move away from oil (esp middle east oil) for our own economic and national security's sake.

Oh geesh, you've probably just woke up the local nutjob we fondly call jetflyer............

Yep not at peak oil whatsoever......Yep Lets not plan for the future and work toward increase efficiency. I say: those stupid tree huggers are idiots let keep driving our SUVs so our fat wives can get 12 miles to a gallon and not the 54 mpg (average for a Car in Europe) that other countries are getting through smart regulation and large gas taxes.

God you all are idiots.......Look folks; all non-OPEC countries are at full tilt and can not produce anymore even when increasing drilling 6-7 times like most industrialized countries have. With India, China and the likes all coming on line with massive growth - Peak oil has already arrived. Or I guess the 100 price tag hasn't convinced even the biggest neoconservative Rush L. listener.

Hey if we want to keep sending a large portion of our income to the middle east so they can finance personal A380's, underwater hotels, man-made palm shaped islands, the biggest aircraft orders in history, indoor ski resorts, etc then that is our god given right as Americans.

I'm sorry; I just can't see the oil companies and oil producing countries not stating the correct amount of oil reserves left in the world. I mean, what possible motivation could they have for not giving us the correct numbers and leading us to think the supply was almost gone? What would they have to gain from this.....................................

Where I come from we call this "Whistling past the graveyard"

ok...ill bite...where would one have to be from to include this in casual conversation
