There are many reasons why I can't imagine the type would come to mainline. One, non-controversial, reason is that Delta is very busy trying to conclude how the NWA / DAL mainline system is going to be routed, which airplanes, bases, pilots, training programs are going to be integrated. At this point other airlines have the operational expertise with the type and Delta is in the process of getting three new airplanes on the property, plus the NWA fleet. The only real overlap is the 757-200's and even that will require consolidation.

  • The 737-700 is going to be used in high perf. applications.
  • The 777-200LR is a work in progress to take that airplane further than any other commercial jet in history, against winter winds.
  • The 787 ....

Mesaba is my guess. They just revised the latest vacancy from 6 new hires on the 900 to 35 new hires split between the 900 and the saab. Something is going on at XJ.

Starting this December Pinnacle is ADDING 22 daily flights out of CVG and an additional 22 flights into CVG (44-flights) with the CRJ 900's. I'll let you do the math as to what that means...

Below are some of the scheduled outbounds:

2045 9E CP9 CVG ATL
2051 9E CP9 CVG AUS
2076 9E CP9 CVG BOS
2052 9E CP9 CVG BOS
2056 9E CP9 CVG DCA
2058 9E CP9 CVG DCA
2032 9E CP9 CVG DCA
2057 9E CP9 CVG DFW
2069 9E CP9 CVG DFW
2009 9E CP9 CVG EWR
2029 9E CP9 CVG LEX
2059 9E CP9 CVG MCI
2041 9E CP9 CVG PHL
2044 9E CP9 CVG PHL
2068 9E CP9 CVG PHL
2071 9E CP9 CVG SAT

What is PCL doing in ATL? Is the ATL flying contracting as a result or is this net gains in flying? Hmmm... Freedom losing the 900s. Comair getting them then subsequently losing them. All of a sudden PCL is ramping up hiring again. Mesaba continues to hire but the numbers are increased dramatically in short order.
How about PCL and XJ each get 7? Who the heck knows. Somethin' is going on though.

What I can't figure out is why they take the planes from an airline because of poor operational performance and give them to an airline with poor operational performance? Both Freedom and Pinnacle were having their contracts voided because of missing numbers??? DL gave Pinnancle a grace period to get the numbers up and then a month later hand them 7 more planes?

$$$$$$$ is KING!!!!!

Pinnacle's ATL performance had improved by a huge amount even before DAL threatened to pull the contract, once DAL let 9E have some input into the schedules to make them something more reasonable that reflected reality. Since then, performance has been fine.

Don't believe that for a minute. DL doesn't let anyone have any input on the schedules! They make the schedules and then say go fly them. I had this discussion with VP of Ops here about 20 min JFK turns and DL/DCI scheduling goes one way. They don't even want to hear about it. They make them (for whatever reason they have) and say go fly it. Period.

You don't know what you're talking about. Our flying times for ATL have been adjusted. We just had 8 days of 100% ATL completion, and our numbers are usually in the top 3 for DCI.

For the month of Aug (its almost over). PCL is #3 on Completion, Arival -14 and D-0, behind RP, and OO. PCL operates a whopping 52 flights. RP=200 OO=474. And the biggest there, ASA=890. All of these are flights per day.
So keep that ralley cry going! We're #3! We're #3!

Oh and BTW, as far into your contract as you are you shouldn't be "helping out" to keep that Delta flying. Its not like you are going to loose it in the end. After all, we'll all be Delta soon.

Yeah with 52 flights per day and 7 crews per plane my 3 year old could do that. Good job!

I'd think an announcement would be coming very soon since those airplanes were announced to leave Freedom early next month.

FWIW Jerry has said publicly that it is very expensive to operate two different bases at the same airport, quite recently too.

So they'll consolidate! ASA can't seem to get new flying anyway, it'll go exactly like USAir/AmWest did and ASA will play the AmWest part.

All I want to know is; do you guys have anyone at PCL that dosen't have a green card? Cause none of you guys can speak plain english. Just another shining example of American jobs being outsourced to foreigners willing to do it for far far less than anyone else. And the quaility of your work sucks.

44 posts and nobody has mentioned that it's LOSING not LOOSING?

What has this board come to

Because we've given up trying to teach professional airline pilots how to spell a word a second grader can spell. Actually, I gave my 6 year old cousin a try. Got it on the first try. L-O-S-E.

Once again he shows the world what a jackass he is. I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's because of little dip weeds like yourself that your women have to go overseas to find men to marry. Spend less time on here looking like an idiot and more time taking care of business and your problems will be solved.

I'm curious how this 76 seat number came about? Why not 75? Why not 77? Just seems like some arbitrary number to see if bean counters were paying attention.

All kidding aside, why would Delta want to put more than 76 seats in a -900 if it meant mainline guys flying them for more money? Would the increase in ASM's offset the increase in operating costs?

All I want to know is; [COLON, NOT SEMI-COLON] do you guys have anyone at PCL that DOSEN'T have a green card? Cause none of you guys can speak plain english. Looks like you could use a few English lessons yourself....

You've got to love it. The rantings of the ignorant and semi-literate.

I think I might agree on this one. We're also hiring like sim instructors all of a sudden. When I thought most of them were placed back on the line? *shrug* Who knows...

I remember he was happy when he found out that Delta terminated Pinnacle's contract, i'm sure he is pissed off that Pinnacle got the flying back and there's a chance that more 900's could go to Pinnacle. Sounds like he is just looking for something to bad mouth Pinnacle.

There's no job posting of instructors I call BS on that rumor. They just let a bunch of very qualified guys back to the line. Those guys would be recalled back to their old position before hiring new instructors.

XJ - you might go check mesaba.com and you'll see there are indeed sim and ground instructor positions. They were just posted yesterday.

Not ASA.

Look for Skywest or Pinnacle.

Comair and ASA the biggest losers in DCI flying. (Along with Freedumb)

Pinnacle and Skywest the biggest winners.

Skywest President recently addressed this. He said that Skywest is definitely not getting those 900's.

Two weeks ago, Freedom was loosing seven 900's.

All loose 900s have been subsequently re-tightened. OPs check good, RTS.

XJ, It's a XJ Memo, I haven't looked to see if there was a job postings on Mesaba's website.

Stop the rumor mill, nothing's happening at XJ, they just changed the 8-15 Vacancy for the second time to 34 new hires, not 35.

....anyone want to question a union that allows us all to bid against one another for these airplanes and then doesn't allow us to make lateral movements when one unit takes airplanes from another unit?
