So the displacement bid just came out. It says that 149 Captains will be affected. Does that mean that there shouldn't be a whole lot more than 149 or so furloughs or am I misunderstanding this thing completely? Also, it says effective conversion date is March of '09. What the heck does that mean?

Yeah, reading right. Downgrade 149 and furlough 149 fo's + or - depending which ones we're shorter on. The conversion date, I beleive that is the date the downgrades all will happen by.?

The ECD is when everything called for in the bid will be complete.

What a bunch of craap! The pittance of a COLA bid is laughable! Had they offered 3-6-9-12-24 month COLAs, there would've been lots of takers....me included. That would've likely gotten more senior people off the payroll and kept more of the newbies around for the "oh my God, we're short-staffed and need more pilots NOW!!" that may likely come around should DL get a favorable court ruling in the Freedom case.

I know there are seniors who are just itching for a buyout, too. But, SoapHer would just as well keep them around for the beatdown, and sacrafice those poor guys 'n gals that came on board recently.

What a crock!

IOW, they're planning for all this to take better than nine months! Do they not realize that a lot (good and bad) can happen in that much time?

Wrong! For every captain position that is eliminated, that means two FO positions will be eliminated. One that the displaced captain will take and one for the decrease in flying that preciptated the displacement in the first place. So it seems they are still sticking with their 300 furlough number.

Whatever the number, the world could flip upside down at least seven times in a nine-month period.

Oh Geez,,
Blame Everything On Mesa.
Mesa Sucks!!!

Keep in mind Comair loves to run Fat on FOs and skinny on CAPT
