Delta, ExpressJet mutually agree to terminate flying agreementJuly 3, 2008


We and Delta Connection carrier ExpressJet have mutually agreed to cease all joint operations after Sept. 1. We will rebook customers whose scheduled service is affected by the change.
ExpressJet flies 23 Embraer 145 regional jets for Delta. Those 50-seat aircraft, whose flights primarily originate or terminate in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City, will be retained by ExpressJet after Sept. 1. We plan to award a portion of this flying, including all routes currently operated by ExpressJet at its Salt Lake City hub, to another Delta Connection carrier.
“We are pleased to be able to reach a mutual agreement on the termination of our partnership with ExpressJet,” said Don Bornhorst, s.v.p.-Delta Connection. “While we expect minimal impact to customers, Delta will work to ensure that alternate transportation options are arranged as quickly as possible.”
There will be no involuntary reductions in headcount as a result of this announcement. We will continue to review our staffing needs for our operations and allow reductions through normal attrition.

There will be cuts at all of the DCI feeders with this merger. The economics of the 50 seat RJ are going the way of the Dodo. It is going to be a brutal year for many. Good luck to everyone. Remember to help anyone you can as you never know when you will need the favor returned.
