Subject: Voluntary Furloughs

Effective August 1, 2008, Spirit will be reducing the size of the FLL Pilot Base by twenty (20) Captains and twenty-five (25) First Officers. These changes will result in the involuntary furlough of approximately forty-five (45) First Officers system-wide. As some of the most junior First Officers in the system currently hold flying positions in the above specified bases, pursuant to Section 23 A.2., the Company is soliciting “voluntary furloughs” from First Officers at those bases. The number of actual system-wide furloughs for AUG will be reduced by the amount of any voluntary furloughs awarded.

Talked to a buddy today and he said Alligant is ready to take over Spirit flying in the event they shut down.

Now that is some planning! Gotta love it.....

And there Mangement team is in FL looking at some JetBlue Airbus's. Airbus is trying to unload them with a sweet deal to Alligant.

Why would Alligant break up their proven model by having a 2 aircraft fleet? Maybe Spirit would not be in its present state if they had stayed with MD's.

They will be fat on crews for the fall slow season that is all....NK isn't going anywhere. MY OPINION, there are guys in training right now doing IOE

I don't think that's the case.... We don't have the airplanes or pilots to do what we already have right now.

Best of luck to all the Spirit folks.
