Remarkable. They hire right up until they furlough. I'm glad I didn't go back. I don't think I could have handled going through another round of downsizing and watched people who had already been furloughed twice, be furloughed a third time.

Mismanagement on an epic scale. What a shame.

If the announced numbers are accurate no east pilot who was previously furloughed will be hit by this.

West or East it is a travesty to see anyone else furloughed. The damage that was done in the last two US Airways furloughs was catastrophic to hundreds (thousands?) of pilot careers.

It gets more complicated. Language from the Transition Agreement:

"7. America West may hire new pilots if all
pilots on the US Airways seniority list have
been offered recall to US Airways or have been
offered a pilot position at America West. New
pilots hired during the Separate Operations will
be placed by their date of hire on a third
seniority list entitled “New Hire Seniority List,”
will be junior to all pilots on the pilot seniority
lists of America West and US Airways on the
effective date of this Letter of Agreement, and
will continue to be junior to those pilots on the
integrated seniority list of America West and
US Airways pilots."

Will UCRAPA ensure the TA is followed?

My guess is they will allow the company to do whatever they want to to the west. Course the DFR will be HUGE but they want the west to go away.

It will be interesting tough, this will be the first test of uscabs, DOH mantra

No one out West is a union member and would rather send feces in the mail. I guess we could just start firing non members. That would solve the furlough problem. Start at the top.
