Shouldn't there be an investigation into whether illegal activity is involved in the funneling of pilot applicants into "preferred" type-schools, rejecting most of the qualified interviewees, then placing those lucky to be hired into a pool for years while the airline continues to actively recruit, interview, and steer additional batches of applicants into their buddies' $6,000.00 type-rating schools?

Sounds to me like:

1) A pyramid scheme.
2) Possible corruption.
3) Fraudulent misrepresentation.

....but that may all be a misperception on my part....

Yes there should!! I'm sure SWA has a great interest in receiving kickbacks that may reach into the hundreds of dollars from such "preferred" type rating schools. A friend of mine heard from somebody that Southwest would not have made a profit for the last few years if it weren't for these kickbacks!

A "friend" heard from "somebody" well that's all the proof we need. Some of you guys need to get a life...

You are. Despite the non lifer's here, most are very legit and it does not matter where you get it.

Put down the bong and get some fresh air....

I think he overloaded on the strawberry flavored suppositories!

They need to be taken sparingly!
:D

So you are also saying that schools like UND, Embry and ALL ATP are the same. Come to are school and get a job at a regional.

"our", maybe tex? ;)

I think the original poster is over-estimating just a touch how much political will there is to stop the practice... c'mon- a "federal investigation"?

we got much bigger problems my friend. much.

Flamebaiting troll alert!

Just because someone chooses to pay for their type does not guarentee them the job at SWA. They can still blow the interview. I know a few that got turned down and are still paying off their type rating. It is a gamble but, necessary if you want to work for SWA.
