This one benefits all of us now and as New Delta, from our 5/9/08 Hotline:
Aero Medical Alarm
Nearly the entire U.S. workforce currently has access to protected, unpaid leave benefits to care for ailing family members, to address personal health issues or for the birth or adoption of a child under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Unfortunately, due to a quirk in the calculation of eligibility hours, pilots and flight attendants do not qualify for FMLA benefits. Legislation (H.R. 2744/S. 2059) has been introduced to correct this anomaly in the law.
NWA has had a long-standing practice of providing FMLA benefits to its flight crews; however, DAL has chosen not to do so. Please take action to protect our federal right to care for our family members in times of need. Log onto http://crewroom.alpa.org, click on the “Advocacy” tab then click on the “Take Action!” link to learn more and to act on this important legislation, as the ramifications of this not passing are potentially enormous.
