Does anybody know where to find the wall maps that you see in FBO's? The ones that look like segmented wallpaper. I would like to find a peel-and-stick map, if possible. Size about 5' by 8'
I have the one you probably want hanging in my son's room at home. We are out of town.It is awesome but a b!tch to hang. I will post info next week but it is inexpensive to buy. Originally designed by DOD and shows terrain in color.
Because you are buying a map in the USA. If you want a map with somewhere else as the center buy it on your many travels. Only in the USA (well UK also) would someone be PC enough to ask that question.
Depends on what you define "mapped" as. It wasn't until the last 100 years or so that you could accurately determine the height of terrain. Technology has greatly improved the accuracy of maps in the last 100 years, with the advent of the computer, airplane, satellite, and a couple of World Wars. In fact there are still plenty of people employed making new maps today. Although I am amazed on how accurate maps were before all the new technology. Pretty amazing stuff.
The USGS and DOD have lead the way in mapping technology improvements. Just like NASA is responsible for the mapping of other planets.
With all that said of course the projection you are looking at is going to be controlled by where you are located in the world. I was mostly just firing back at what seemed to be a Anti-American comment. I mean, the guy defines USA as " U.S.A. = Underprivileged Slaves of America." I doubt I am not in the minority when I say that I take offense to that. I'm a American and I wouldn't have it any other way.
