NEW SERVICE FARE RULES

I think Denver will see massive growth from SWA in the next year or two.

A SWAPA rep told me the other day that Denver would be our next crew base.

It is no secret that we found a market that has two struggling carriers and we intend to take advantage of the situation.

SWEET! PDX to DEN commutes just got a little easier!

It will take years and more flying in and out of Denver to justify DEN as a base. I think our frequency is only 34% of what LAS was when they turned that into a base. Plus, we would need to grow.

Last I read, SWA has about 10 percent of the flights out of denver. Might be slightly higher though now with this announcement.

Ahh, but it is already bigger than MCO when we made it a base.

...and by all normal metrics, LAS should have been a base five years ago. I think the biggest holdup on the LAS base was the incompetence & corruption of the McCarran airport authority.

And we all wonder why the airlines refuse to raise fares to reasonable levels which will gaurantee profits. Thanks southworst. And how about a NEW SERVICE FARE RULE that states you can't charge a fare that does not cover expenses. And no way is 69 bucks going to be profitable on any route!

Why can't these a**wipes just go the he** away??

Spoken like a bitter women... :)

Wow, amazing how much power one little airline in Texas has on the rest of the industry.

Now if only American, Delta and the rest said the same thing back in the early 70s and crushed those clowns back when it could have easily been done!

For the sake of all the pansies that apparently work at Southwest, I hope their airline never has any downturn or heaven forbid...concessions to be had. I'm not sure there would be enough humble pie to go around! Yes, you happen to have landed with one of the carriers that is doing well in this tough time. But I am sure that all the TWA pilots 20 years ago, and the Pan Am pilots before that all thought they were untouchable too.
You have every right to be proud or your little airline from Texas, but try to remember that you could have just as easily landed almost anywhere else.

Funny thing is, most of the folks at southworst are their by default. If they had their way they would have been at the likes of Pan Am, TWA, Eastern and the other legacies. Before 9-11 southworst was the booby prize among airline pilots. If you couldn't get on with 1 of the 6 remaining legacies or the 2 cargo carriers worth working for prior to 9-11, their was always a job waiting for you flying all the white trash and ghetto gang bangers in those dirty puke brown and orange planes!
