1. How soon can new hires get CLE?

2. What aircraft are based out of CLE?
a) List aircraft in order of f/o seniority (easiest to be assigned first, second, so on)

3. How does RESERVE work (ie: is there a short call, long call, how do those work, etc)?

4. Is it true that new hire pilots do not have medical benefits for first 6 months? What other such things would a potential applicant want to know that may differ from other airlines?

5. What kind of seat locks are in place?

6. I guess, most importantly, is CAL even hiring new pilots at this time?

Thank you very much for any answers, I am very curious about CAL, but don't really ever hear much about them these days.

1) within 6 months, typically
2) 737 base only
3)short call=3hrs, long call=9hrs (You bid for it each month)
4)No health coverge for 6 months is a true statement!
5)If you get hired into the 737, no seat lock. You can bid larger equipt. on the next bid. If you are on the 757/767, you are seatlocked from going to smaller equipt. (ie. 737) for 2 years but you can bid the 777 at any time.
6)Still hiring, not sure the monthly number, I think 48/month not sure though.

Hiring is going to slow down for the summer by about 50%, possibly more this year. Last year it slowed down substantially for the summer due to increased flying. It might slow down more depending on attrition with age 65.

Damn, are you just too lazy to look up the info? At least you got Twotter that fell for it.

NOT!!!

10/09/07 hire and could not hold it. It usually takes about 6 months to get advanced if you can hold it. I will let you know when that happens.

You can hold IAH and EWR out of training.

I'm surprised CLE is so senior....Was it a much larger base long ago?

CAL furloughed about 660 on the last round. At the same time CLE was downsized from over 600 to about 200 pilots. Most of the FOs were pushed out of CLE as a result, with many CAs choosing between being pushed out of CLE CA or staying in CLE only by going back to FO. This made CLE a very senior base generally because many pilots had settled in CLE and only the most senior could stay. The rest created a pent up demand to get back in. The effect of this is still being felt. For instance, on the Jan 08 seat bid many FOs could hold CA on the 737 in EWR and in IAH, and even hold CA on the 757/767 in EWR, but they couldn't hold CA in CLE.

OMG I had no idea all that went down.
Thanks for the info...

Ya, call me a goof, but you're the idiot that hasn't done any research. I think you said you were, "very curious" about CAL. I'm guessing you haven't done ANY research on CAL. From your questions.....I doubt you know what CAL stands for. Stop waisting everyone's time by asking crap that you should know if you were so "interested".

Call it semantics but hiring didn't slow down last summer. Hiring stopped. This has happened the last 2 summers. We will see what happens this time around. I predict more of the same.

Have you spoken to anyone regarding your anger issues? Why do you care what others ask? Contrary to your paranoia, it isn't a hobby for people to ask questions about the most current info, just for kicks. If your delusions become too much to bear, feel free to ignore my screen name, and stop cluttering the board with your venom.
It's nice to see there are still good people left on here, despite the angry trolls whose only purpose for living is to inflict the misery of theirown lives onto others. Textbook projection.

Thanks again to all of the others who have helped. Much appreciated.

Nah, torturing small helpless animals gets me off. Do some research before stating your so interested in a particular airline when it's abvious you don't know the difference between a 737 and your flight options plane. Like...OMG...you guys fly jets? So cool man..
