Why did Skywest?

Why did OO cancel the next three months worth of new hire classes? Just heard about this, anyone have any details?

My guess is since merger-mania is happening, or is possibly about to, everything is put on hold.....probably the same goes for those pilots (attrition) that were considering leaving......Waiting till the dusk settles.

We were ramped up for the Midwest announcement, but it was delayed months by the Northwest aquisition (sp) etc., so now we will be staffed for those a/c to come online.

So until something happens, here we are......

Nothing official, but they've been "tire kicking" at least three recently. Plenty of $ in the bank and some allocated (150M) for ops outside the US... whatever they meant by that.

No I am not anti Skywest, I seriously considered going to them before Eagle. But I am going to NetJets I am looking forward to the change from the regionals.

Rumors are that Mesa is for sale. We will announce probably more losses tomm in the 1st quarter. You could buy Mesa for about 95 million and probably cheaper after the announcement tomm. Word is company is speeding up negotiations to get Labor contracts fixed.

Clarify: what do you mean by get the Labor contracts 'fixed'? As in, make the company more attractive to candidates so that they can properly staff the airline? Or, more likely, as in decrease the expense on the P&L for labor in an attempt to pay for the Hawaii fiasco?
