Thanks & welcome aboard!

Class started today feb 11th, with 20 people in the class. Once they tell us what we got i will try and get on here and post it.
Thanks for the welcome!

There were four expressjet, one superpilot, two skywest, one mesaba, one comair, one sunair, one air whisky, one military retiree, on nwa ati a couple of charter airline guys, and a bunch of Delta guys who just couldn't hack the double breasted suit anymore;):D. This is the first class with a mesaba flow through. There were three on the list but I guess two are being held back. That is great news that the flow is starting to come through for those guys.

Hey Super duper I'm glad you are in class, open your VOl 1 and read it and stop looking on FI so much. Lets us know what your NW indoc guy says about the merger on your side of the street, I'm sure you will though. Congrats and I hope we keep our jobs, I think we will, but I'm a positive guy.

Hey, when did NWA start hiring again and how many guys have they hired since they began? I guess since it looks like were going to hook up, I should be looking at that as well as the Delta numbers.

NWA started hiring i believe the first class was in Oct but we were told our class was around the first 130 hired so far. 350 newhires planned for 2008 might go up depending on how the age 65 shakes down. what are the DAL numbers? This merger stuff is going to be interesting thats for sure. Its in all of our best interest to stay civil about it though. Not much we have control over other than ourselves and how we deal with this. Good luck guys

not much to study yet, working on that part;)

Yeah... no.. You should more or less be enjoying your time at the Outback bar. Indoc is 8 hours of material crammed into 2 weeks with one day sliding down the slides and swimming in the pool. Enjoy it during indoc, because once you hit DC-9 systems you won't hardly have time to eat, much less enjoy a beer!!

In all seriousness, welcome aboard.

Where are they putting up the new hires? Does NWA provide hotel and per diem to new hires? What if you live locally in MSP?

DAL started in Feb 07 and hired 388 for 07. So far for 08 they have hired 93 as of the 4 Feb class. The next class starts on the 18th and I think it will be around 30-ish. Two classes per month and in March they are going to 50 each. Between NWA and DAL, there should be lots of guys/gals added to the list in the next six months.

Would you 121 guys mind posting what you got hired with timewise? Thanks!

Delta is looking for around 5500 TT with 1000 TPIC from 121 guys. Not sure about mil times. I got in with 5000 TT, 4000 Turbine, and 1000 TPIC last summer. Some are getting in with less if you are well connected. Delta is also liking guys/gals with some heavy aircraft time. They also seem to make it in with a little less TT.

the breakdown for the class was 14 dtw DC9 and 4 SO ANC. They said they are hurting on the SO position now because 39 ropes are bidding off the panel. All 4 going to the panel were told they would be line holders straight out of training. Everyone was told they could probably hold the airbus in 3 months or 757 in 6 months. good stuff

is NWA looking muck at corporate guys? I just submitted my on-line app. 5500tt 1100tpic, 2400hrs 121-F/O. I wonder if I'll even be looked at?

How long, generally, does it take ffrom the time the recieve the app, and assuming they like you, give the nod for th interview?

4 year degree is a deal breaker here as far as I can tell but there are a couple of corporate/charter guys in this class. Off to study now!!!

Did anyone go to ANC by choice or did they just send the four most junior?

2 went by choice 2 forced=most junior. one person might swap the 9 out for the panel by choice which would make it only 1 forced. Wont know for sure till Thursday or so.

What's the gouge on suit color for the interview? I know Delta is big on a navy suit with red tie. Is NWA the same?

Dont think it matters as long as its bloack or blue. I wore a blue suit and red tie and it worked out ;)

That's an urban myth. I wore a dark gray suit, along with several others in my group. One had a blue suit with a blue shirt and a nice blue patterned tie which actually looked really sharp. Out of 8 that day, maybe half had on a red tie. Six of us got hired, including myself and the guy in the blue suit.

The colors don't really matter. As long as you look sharp and conservatively (no loud colors) then you'll be fine.

i wore a black pinstripe with sharp blue/black tie. hired for june 2 class. i'm pretty sure its not about having a red tie. does anyone know the projection for SO classes in the later classes, say for ...june. and can you bid out of the SO before you complete training?
