Aux fuel tank #12.

No, really, it's for the satcom antennas. The TV applications are usually on the top of the cabin due to their size. Aircraft with the old Connexions by Boeing internet system (like mine) still have the big canoes on the fuselage. Useless as teats on a boar-hog now (Boeing abandoned the system a few years ago) except to collect ice and mess with takeoff numbers.

Drug Smuggling Pod. The dogs can't smell up there.

They managed to fit the Sat TV on the G550 in a similar sized pod on the top of the tail. That way, it's not blocked by anything. (Except TRW's down where the BBJ cruises... :D ) TC

Ha ha, MF, not with the 27K engines. :D Except when we are suffering with flight levels in meters, we can get to 390 immediately unless we are going more than 4000 miles...

... and the boss can carry 13 of his mistresses with him while doing so.

Hopefully the G550 works satisfactorily when cold soaked in -40C temps for four days. Ours does not.

njcapt--The G550's I flew didn't discriminate--they'd break at any temp. :D ;)

(Disclaimer so my former co-workers who regularly troll the boards for my posts won't have a stroke: To be fair to Gulfstream, most issues were due to the new technology and software updates that 'conflicted' with previous software updates. AND... every airplane is gonna fry a card or a box every so often.) TC
