SKYBUS PUTS 100 SEATS FOR SALE AT $10* ON SPECIAL GULFPORT-BILOXI TO COLUMBUS FLIGHT

While Ohio State fans head south for championship game, Gulf Coast residents can discover Columbus —

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. — While thousands of Ohioans are heading for New Orleans to watch their Buckeyes compete in the national championship game, Skybus Airlines and Experience Columbus — the official source for travel information in Greater Columbus — will give residents of the Louisiana and Alabama Gulf Coast a chance to discover Columbus for only $10* each way.

Skybus announced today it will make at least 100 seats available for $10* each way on a special flight departing Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport on Saturday, Jan. 5, returning on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

Skybus added the extra flight to accommodate Ohio State fans eager to get to the Louisiana Superdome for the Jan. 7 game

Yea, Columbus is the first place I want to explore in the dead middle of winter!

so...lets say they get 100 terds on board that paid 10 bucks...thats only $1000.00 of revenue....plus what ever these terds buy onboard. Now, how much cost difference/fuel burn would it be to fly back close to empty and burning less gas than to load up with more wt. and only get a Grand out of it. Hmm.

I feel no pain for the pax that got stranded. I hope that UAL, Delta, AA or whoever they had to fly on to get home took them to the cleaners and it was a middle seat too!

the day that airlines like JetBlue and SkyBus go away will be a happy day in my book!

i want to follow the logic here. the paying customer who wants a cheap seat is the A$$hole. screw them, and all that for buying a ticket.

punish them? i don't get it. how are they responsible?

Didn't UAL and AA cancel hundreds of flights in and out of Chicago over the holiday?

When UAL and AA cancel flights out of one hub, the other hubs keep the airlines and the people going. When Skybus gets slammed in CMH, that pretty much shuts down the airline (same as for JetBlue with JFK).

They only offer I think 10 tickets at the $10 dollar rate the rest of the tickets sell from 150$ to the high $200's

And here is the problem. If they are flying around with 90% load factors, its those last 10% that went unsold that was supposed to make the money.

Its easy to sell $10 tickets, but try filling up that plane with $400 tickets. It gets tough.

Either way the numbers don't ad up for much of a profit. Do they have any contracts to fly anything below??

Gee...Thanks...this big complicated airline stuff really boggles my mind:)
