Every once in a while someone's bad commuting experience finds its way to this forum - only fair if props get thrown out as well:

I've been commuting from Heathrow for a while now and hitching a ride with American and United to and from ORD. All you guys and girls have been absolutely fantastic. You are all MUCH apreciated. I've never had a bad commuting experience before, but the hospitality I've experienced on all these flights has been amazing. And the people both of your companies have working the counter at Heathrow (and ORD) are super-helpful.

Thanks for making what should be a painful commute a really positive experience.

I just tried jumpseating from Carribean to JFK the other day. The gate agents said that I was not elligible for international jumpseat back to the states. I work for B6. Fortunately, the Captain was cool and threw me on anyways (I would have been totally stuck otherwise). I got down to the Carribean no problem. Does anyone know how this works?

I can vouch for American. In July I was in a bind going from NYC to LA. At the last minute AA came through for me and spared me a mistrip.

It's true that you always hear the bad, but rarely hear the good.

It's because AA doesn't reciprocate the international jumpseat benefits we (B6) extend to them. They only let us jumpseat domestically. I know we only have about 8 international destinations, but it certainly would be nice to be added to their international list. SouthWest is on AA's international list and has zero international destinations.

I noticed that as well. Odd to say the least, while SWA crews are cordial (thank you by the way) I have JB crews go above and beyond. I would certainly like to see you guys get the reciprocal. Hope fully you can have your jumpseat committee start talking to ours, and then last but not least our dear over-paid management team (flight department) will have to make the final decision.

I flew with a guy at Pinnacle who would commute from DTW to Cochabama, Bolivia. DTW to MIA to La Paz, Bolivia, to Cochabama, Bolivia. (Bolivia is a country in South America for all of you who dont know)

Did it once a month and worked his arse off when he was in DTW

I think I can.... How about PHX to Auckland,New Zealand ?? We have a 'bus Captain here in PHX that does that. He has enough seinority to build his schedule into blocks of 2 weeks on/2 weeks off to help ease the pain......Makes my cross country commute seem like a walk around the block in comparison.

I knew a COEX EWR ATR F/O that was EWR-based, but lived in Hawaii (cant remember which island) - and this was way before CO had that 777 nonstop EWRHNL.

I can't thank you guys enough. AA, UA, HP, (SWA to mdw). You guys make my commute from phx to ord easy. You guys go above and beyond to help me out.

I was able to to my part the other day from iad to pit. our o2 was low and could only be dispatch without a jumpseater. I called mx control and mesa mx said not to take a jumpseater (they don't want to fix anything). So I did what any captain would do... The fo and I used our o2 at the gate until it was below 2 crew dispatch. we were able to get the ua guy home.

I jumpsat on Continental a few years ago between Tel Aviv and Newark; the Captain lived in Israel and bid for as many TLV trips as he could get.
