what jea said.

if it passes, I'll volunteer and help out. I have very little faith, though, that a rookie MEC will be able to protect lots of the little goodies that we enjoy now. managements attitude will be 'fine, we'll do it the ALPA way.' all we can hope for in terms of a contract is what others have gotten on their first try.

Hey Skynation! I have a great Idea- Ill buy the drinks- you get the popcorn... we can invite pbr streetgang cause I know how much he likes us, we can also invite 120% Torque and we can watch this alpa video over and over!!!!!!! you know, since its "good watch" ha ha ha ha ha

If it passes, I sincerely hope you'll admit your real name on here so those of us who are sickened by your attitude can be sure not to vote for you as a rep. Honestly, I think SkyWest ALPA can do without volunteers with your mentality. We have enough pro-pilot pilots here that we'd probably do better without your "contribution".

See here is where I get confused. You say you don't trust the ALPA lackeys, well you are the ALPA lackey. You make or break your own destiny, well you and the rest of your group. Solidarity wins. As far as losing goodies, well that depends, at first you will maintain everything you have right now, mgmt. can't change it just because your now represented, thats the whole status quo thing, your current rules are frozen until you negotiate your first contract. Then when you start negotiating, you will have to horse trade to get some gains in some areas, but Skywest is extremely profitable, so this will not be anywhere near consessions. From my point of view, you all should atleast score ASA's latest TA, plus some of the goodies you are afraid you will lose, not to mention a split rate for the 200/700. Also, you will still be able to go and vent to the chief pilots etc. except now if you happen to piss one off they can't just fire you for the heck of it. A union is just a way to help level the playing field between mgmt. and labor, no it is not anywhere close to level, but atleast you are no longer at will employees subject to mgmts. whims. As many have stated before on here, a union is what YOU make it.

please explain what about my attitude has 'sickened' you and wow me with your insight into 'my mentality.' and if you can, include some of my posts that indicate that I am anti-pilot.

BTW, if it's voted in, I can guarantee I'll hold a position. There's no way I'll let the anti-company crowd infect our workplace with their entitlement attitudes.

Are you gonna refer our pilot group to this web sight so they can get a taste of where you stand on things?

why would I refer them here after we vote it in? my position during this drive has been that I don't want it. if we vote it in, then my position will be that I'll make the most of it, trusting the collective will of our pilot group. what other choice would I have but to make the most of it?

besides, this site and all of it's verbal gamesmanship on 'the issues' is as much entertainment as anything else. any hope of serious, thoughtful dialogue is immediately put asunder by the usual jackasses. my calling them on it is often in mocking reaction to their ill-informed and juvenile tone.

what about you, if it's voted down? will you concede that the message put forth wasn't compelling enough to pass? or will you buy into the spin of 120% when he says the the machine of the company in communicating with us was too formidable for the OC to overcome?

If this drive doesn't pass then I'm gonna try to get over to a union carrier. I've spent too many years at this company without legal representation.

If ALPA is voted in, I would hope you would make your positions very clear to our pilot group. Based on what I have seen here on F.I., I would not vote for you.

and what positions, specifically, are you referring to?

I didn't have to look very far for the first of your many positions that I don't agree with. This sounds a lot like some of our SAPA reps. This sir, is exactly why I wouldn't want you in our MEC. I am tired of my "representatives" walking into negotiations with such low expectations and then trying to sell me on what little Brad decided to give them.
