"Pinnacle Airlines Corp. subsidiary Colgan Air said it would shift flights now going to Pittsburgh to another hub airport after Jan. 6 because of US Airways plans to reduce service to the city by nearly a third."

I swear to god if they take anymore of PDT's flying I'm going to become a FFDO just incase one of them tries to jumpseat on us!!!

Other than their infamous 1-1.5 year upgrade, why in the hell are people still going there?

1.5 year upgrades? Thats an eternity in this day and age. For the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would go there either.

It's not really that bad of a place. Course it would have been better if we could have joined together and unionized. It's probably going to get a lot worse here, but hopefully I will be gone by then. Sure glad I'm not stuck sitting in the right seat of a Dash though.

Slow your roll, Jelly- but I feel your frustration. The thing that sucks is that marketing drives our flying- not SF, and it has to make sense financially (yes, whores make $$, but who gets screwed here is the real question). And what sucks further is the fact that we are the overflow up to the very last minute (literally) before we build our schedules for the bid package, so if Colganus can't do it, or Wiskey or any other contract carrier, we have to.

But... we CAN'T! Colganus isn't getting as sweet a deal as you might think, either. If the routes underperform (duh), they stop. I'd hate to have been based in 8 different cities...

Sure glad I'm not stuck sitting in the right seat of a Dash though.

I know, right? Gosh. I didn't even have a chance to pick up open flying in July, and only cleared 4 grand from the right seat. I'm such a punk! Gimme that jet!

Hey i'm not in a jet either there buddy, and I'm glad your getting rich from the right seat. I'll just keep building my turbine PIC time.

One: I ain't your buddy. And you being a Ten I See hick, and myself being Texan, you know what I mean.

Two: I ain't gettin' rich. Been rich, liked the zeroes on the paychecks, hated life.

Three: I get something that's worth more than gold. Too many folks don't understand what I mean, but I think you might.

Four: I'm impressed. Ain't nobody in the history of aviation that ever logged turbine PIC- congrats on being second. Because I already have.

Hey Nuts,
Thats about the most absurd statement I think I've read in a long time on this forum. Irregardless of your frustration your comment isn't going to change any of the forces that drive flying from one carrier to the next. I think you are probably intelligent enough to understand that, but are you mature enough to deal with the reality of the airline business. Also, are you mature enough to understand what a dirtbag outfit you work for as well? I am referring to your ownership that insists on putting 350-hour UND grads in the seat. Then we all have to listen to their tales of woe...I'm sorry your comment just isn't going to wash with me. If you want to talk about it in person. Why don't you come on over and say something to me in person at LGA. I'm there just about everyday and I enjoy a friendly relationship with Piedmont crews. Good luck running your smack...

Regards,

Hey Nuts,

Hey ExNavyRotorhead,

You know what he's talking about? It's more than the routes, it's what he sees where he is based. I'd be more than happy to tell a Colgan crew to folk right off the computer my airline pays for so I can submit a pay report. That kind of thing.

Dirtbag airline?

Hmm. I know the rates we agree to fly the -400 (or any turboprop between 51 and 78 seats). Looks to me that we agree to fly a plane at a rate that puts ourselves (and how we value our jobs) some 25 to 73 PER CENT higher than you do.

Dirtbag? Sheeey0000t.

*For example- you top at 78 bucks, 15 years. We'll hit that at 8. And it grows annually! And that payrate dies with the next contract's death! But what the heck good is ALPA? ... and I made the post more mod friendly for the sensitive folks out there.

Not just that Sig! There isn't too many Pilots flying out there with 100-140hrs of pay credit each month! So Dirtbag isn't the word!! We are like classy Ho's!!!

Karma, If your ever in CLT I'll take that Pepsi Challange from you!!

Look Sig,
Piedmont Airlines, Colgan Air, PSA Airlines, etc...pick one. They are ALL dirtbag airlines...And, I didn't refer to the people that worked there. Especially, the pilots that have been at Piedmont since the Henson days and built that airline.
So, please tell me what you "see" at where you are based thats so heinous and let's fix it. Personally, I could care less about using the friggin computer in the LGA crewroom and if thats your biggest beef. Then I really don't know what to say to you about an issue that petty. If you're pissed about the Harrisburg routes, well guess what? I wasn't there when they signed the contract, OK? Myself and everyone else st your airline just work there...If I could change alot of things about this indutry I would. But you know what? I can't. And, unless you are drinking ALPA and Piedmont (USAirways) Kool-Aid neither can you.
Piedmont isn't any better or worse than any other dirtbag/wholly-owned regional. In point of fact all the wholly-owned regionals have been getting shafted by their own mangement/ownership. So, go enjoy your flow-through...flying F/O all month with 4-stripes on your shoulder and giving dual to the 300-hour wonders...
Payscales you say? Well, again I wasn't there and I voted YES...So, WTF? Are you going to keep up the ad hominem BS or realize the futility of your argument isn't with "Joe Average" Colgan pilot (Me). But with your owners, your managers, your MEC and your national union officers.

Regards,

ex-Navy Rotorhead

P.S. I'll be the one getting Cheetos all over the keyboard in LGA surfing Voyerweb while you are waiting to submit your times.

WRONG. Let's pull out W2s. Let's see who can ask for a jumpseat without anything to hide.

That's the second soft invitation to a "fight" you've made thus far in this thread. I've seen squids-a-plenty in my life.

Never impressed.

Sig,
Obviously, you have little or no sense of humor and are taking this way too serious. And, I'd gladly pull out my W2 and compare notes...And, for the record I regularly fly LGA-ROA and politely and humbly request the jumpseat, Sir...So, kiss my squid ass

NOW WE'RE TALKING!

You've been mis-identified by myself, but I ain't kissing your squid ass with Mike Colgan's lips and Steve Farrow pushing. ;)

You aren't the smoker under Gate 3 that gave me a serious case of angry mofo- and I stand by what I said to that arse hole. I thought that was you.

All of the above noted.

Nope...Not me...I don't smoke and typically banter with the Piedmont crowd in the crewroom while sitting after a double deadhead. I'm not really a Gate 3 kinda guy, but have been known to go in the rampies breakroom...Actually, every airline manager can kiss my hind parts...Especially Buddy Casey! Ex-Eastern crook thats now our Pres./GM. Fun times ahead I'm sure for all of us! Major re-trenching of routes out of PIT. Honestly, I think PCL Holdings has their eye on IAD and Mesa's routes after UAL boots them (for the second time in a decade btw).

ex-Navy Rotorhead

P.S. Sorry about the pizza sauce on the keyboard...Better than what some late-night crew left on there!!!

I'm sure glad you didn't go to five. I can't count that high.

That story about shifting hubs from PIT is talking about the EAS flying and dropping the non-EAS service.

This has absolutely nothing to do with new flying for Colgan, only changing where our EAS service goes (leading rumor is for IAD as United).

I swear to god if they take anymore of PDT's flying I'm going to become a FFDO just incase one of them tries to jumpseat on us!!!

that's messed up dude. what do the pilots have to do with management. at least 50% voted yes so don't even try that one either.

JEEZUS PEOPLE.

WHO CARES.....ARE WE COLGANITES SECOND-RATE CITIZENS SIMPLY BECAUSE WE ACCEPT WHAT WE ARE PAID?
As bad as our payscales are, at least we upgrade people within a decent frame of time. Life isn't so bad, and our pilots move on to majors just as readily as your company's, if not FASTER.

Well, have fun in your Dash/ERJ/CRJ.....whoever you are and whomever you may fly for....the left seat sure beats sittin' switch bitch for a couple more years, so I ain't leavin' till HR calls me for class.

So spike your hair, charge your ipod, and throw that backpack over your shoulder you sad excuses for responsible adults....the sooner you learn it isn't our fault (pilots), but management's, the sooner you grow up. We never wanted Pinnacle anyways.....
AND I VOTED YES

This is precisely what is wrong with the FFDO program, neatly wrapped up in one sentence.

A pilot of one scumbag regional throwing poo at pilots of another scumbag regional. It just wouldn't be FI any other way!

P.S. Who is "they" exactly. USAirways? Last time I checked, all Express flying technically belongs to them.
