I don't have a perfect past I was just wondering if it is likely to get a job at a major with a less than great pilot record?

an FO when a Capt hit a taxi light damaging the aircrafts prop in 2000

a safety pilot in an ac that landed gear up

1 failed check ride

Its all about supply and demand. Sometimes the majors can be very picky and sometimes there not.

But with time and being honest about your mistakes and what you learned, you can get a job with a mojor.

Go for it.

Well if you are waiting for them to call you before applying, I can guarantee you you won't get an interview.

Acting as a safety pilot and the plane landed gear up, did you forget what you were suppose to be there for?

no, didn't forget what I was there for. It was a miscommunication and the lack of checklist usage with the owner of the airplane.

Safe?

OUCH!

Looking back on my time as a student etc, there are plenty of times that I was a safety pilot and assumed that the other guy was taking care of everything...

Now I know better.

If you are honest, I doubt it can come back to haunt you. As long as you present each situation as a learning opportunity, and have had a clean record for the last 3-7 years, who cares?

Worst case scenario, go work for a regional for a year to prove you can do it safely...
