I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on including your GPA on the Airapps application. It is not a required field so I was wondering if not filling out this field would be a cause for a rejection (i.e. not selected for an interview) by an airline. I am torn about making my very very sub-par HS & college GPA public this early in the game and not even getting a chance to explain, or just being completely upfront now and not risk being passed over for an incomplete application.

Thanks

I think it depends on time away from school. If you just grad-e-ated last year, than ya, I'd say put them down. If you're an old man like me, I'd hold back. Everyone changes, and grades just showed how well you played Animal House! I think most of the guys that got all "A"'s killed themselves years ago. They freaked out and lost it.

Good luck.

I'm not sure what the "right" answer is, but I did not enter the GPAs on airlineapps. At the interview, Delta asked what they were (OK in HS, not so great in college) and I just told them that I had learned a lot since then about prioritization, maturity, etc. and pointed to my strong work performance between college and now. I think they want you to be honest about your past peformance and perhaps recognize how you've overcome any lackluster portion of your education or training.

Just tell them that your HS/College's GPAs were based on a 3-point scale instead of a 4-point one. It makes you appear "more smarter".

Unfortunately not even that would help me much for HS - I can't believe they even let me graduate. Let's just say that I wouldn't have been an honor graduate on a 2.0 scale ;)

It's been over 10 years since I graduated from college, over 15 years since HS, and I am now working on a graduate degree with a 3.8 gpa so I am not worried about it in an interview setting which is why I am not sure about putting it on the application. I am afraid they might be telling the interns that are doing the initial screenings to rule out anyone with less than a 2.5 or something silly like that.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure I put mine down on the app, and it was around a 2.0, so I wouldn't worry about it. Especially if it's 10-15 years ago or more, they know that people change. It's something for them to ask you about in the interview. I thought the guy that was reviewing my college transcript in the interview was going to wear out his highlighter.
