ALPA does not hang pilots. Pilots hang pilots. You see something you dont like, vote no. Someone not representing you correctly, boot them. ALPA wont say no. Im not saying that it would make a real diffrence for you guys right now though. This should not be the major topic right now. It should be how much of a percentage your going to vote this POS down with. Anything with scope relief should be wiped with. Good luck guys we are all watching and hoping the best for you guys.

If you want alpa representation go to an airline with such. You knew we had an in-house union when you interviewed. Quit yer bitchin'.

Are you going to say the same for pay, work rules, employee treatment by the company, the list goes on and on.

Great attitude, my hat is off to you --- in shame.

re read my post. It contained NOTHING about contract issues. I'm sick and tired of perople thinking alpa is the end all to fix all. How quickly people forget that alpa was trying to figure out some way to do away with the LCC's.

It is an attitude, an attitude that carries into other areas of ones life.

Being open to other unions, other ideas.

I am not a huge fan of ALPA as well, and they are by no means the "fix" to our problems, but that being said, I will not rule them out.

I have flown under ALPA, Teamsters, and in house unions before setting foot here at AirTran - in all cases, the union is only as good as those who are in office.

But ruling out any option for a new direction takes away leverage - the company is happy to have the union we have - they play them like a fiddle. Our union has NO backbone. They would loath ANY ALPA talk around here for fear that we might actually have some legal backing on many issues that our current legal team wont touch.

Don't forget ALPA is a self feeding interest and they are all too happy to take money from anyone they can get it from, LCC or legacy.

ask the 2400 TWA pilots how well ALPA represented them..... my a** is still sore from their "representation"

I thought it was all the work of the APA and AA.

they (ex TWA pilots) are suing ALPA. you might want to wait until the results of that lawsuit come out as some TWA folks thinks dues will be increased to cover the judgment. there is some dissension and division even within the lawsuit as the original 13 named plaintiffs have been changed, charges of funneling funds to lawyers who were "friends" of some of those involved in the lawsuit, etc.

the AA side will say ALPA was offered a better solution than the 8:1 and staple they got, but the TWA MEC turned it down.
