We had a bunch of these SOBs at our flight school..... I suggest that it is not a good idea to impose our values and morals on people like this.....

I know, I know..... There are always exceptions and so forth, BUT.....

The standard Saudi we had at the school was the most lazy, lying, cheating, shady, dangerous person I can think of (and these guys were already airline employees.) These a-holes actually think it is a type of bonus with Allah to pull one over on a "nonbeliever" Never assume that they share the same morals as we do. They DO NOT treat women in an honorable way, and they think it is awesome to be dishonest and do harm to a subhuman "nonbeliever"

Don't make the mistake that these guys have ANY of the same values the avg. American does. These people are raised in a very different world, and they totally take advantage of the fact that we always assume that others have good intentions. I can tell you from personal experience-these people from this culture are not the innocent little lambs many would have us believe they are.

I lived in Michigan for four years and got to know many Arabs around the Dearborn area. Every Arab family I met was 100% American, nice mannered, with good morals, and were hard working people.

Do you have any idea what kind of BS you are saying here? Do you realize many, many "Arabic men" are here in the USA legally? They and their families are here because of the Saddam regime had murdered and harassed their families and friends for decades. Do you know that just because they are speaking arabic they may be and are probably Christians? Do you realize that many came here because of that very fact? Do you understand that they are fighting right along side of the "standard American soldier" over there? And we need them for translators and culture training to make us better at killing the bad ones?

You need to wake up! They are Americans just like us. As far as speaking arabic in the airport...I hate to say it, but it is a little unnerving, but these guys are American Soldiers or helping them. They are American citizens! They were probably just speaking their native language because they were making fun of the ignorant people at the airport like the woman in question.

As much as I predjudice Arabic men, I have to put myself in check as well...knowing many are good Americans. We are at war here. We cannot alienate the ones that want to help us here.

While I do agree we have to be vigilant, that doesn't mean every "arabic looking man" is up to no good because of his heritage.

Do I pay more attention to an arabic looking man on the airplane...absolutely. Doesn't mean I treat him with disrespect though. Do I feel uncomfortable with a black man standing behind me at the ATM...usually, again just cautious. Doesn't mean I don't treat him without respect though, unless he does something to warrant such. There is a fine line between being cautious and sterotyping....but there is a line. Unfortunately past (personal/national) events have lead us to that point.

At the Speedway at 8-Mile and I-75 am I extremely aware of my surroundings while pumping gas...Hell yes, but I am in a very dangerous place that no white boy should be at night.

Was the Imam (sp?) thing a while back on US Air justified...I believe it was. Those idiots used paronia to have a media circus...or was it? Either way, everything I read on that scenario was that those men were actually being very suspicious and acting in a way that warranted very cautious action. But a few arabic men speaking arabic and otherwise acting professionally is not that scenario what so ever.

I know that my girlfriend speaks her native language often (czech). Even at the airport we make fun of the redneck in the wife-beater and blue jean cutoffs with 5 year old flip flops getting on the plane. Doesn't mean we are having a conspiracy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but these days it sure seems to me that while not all Muslims are terrorists, all terrorists sure seem to be Muslim. When all these guys are running around hijacking airliners and they have a history of doing crazy stuff, forgive me for being a little suspicious....

BTW-A very good friend of mine went to a major aviation college and found out that the guy he roomed with for a couple of years was one of the hijackers on 9-11. All the above statements applied to this roomie as well (honest, hard -working, etc. etc) Right until this guy fooled everyone long enough to fly a plane into a building!

I understand where you are coming from. While I am not inviting everyone together to sing "com-by-ya" sit around the peace table and stick my head in the sand, also every arabic man is not a muslim.

Sounds like the lady was concerned, was not happy with the security measures, and got off the plane. It sounds like her actions did not delay the plane, and it got off the gate late on its own. It sounds like AA is trying to pin this on her. She CAN be frightened of Aribic men if she wants. Its a natural product of Arabic men flying airplanes into buildings. She made a mistake that she had every right to make. Probably about 3 times as many that are here illegally. The biggest concetration of muslims is in Dearborn, MI. I quite sure you missed this little tidbit as it was not on FOX or and other news channel.

And yes, I'm quite sure a lot of them are US citizens and probably quite upstanding. Do they ALL garner a second and third look at the airport.............HELL YES! Does that mean they are guilty. No. If the guy is middle eastern, and looks about 25, he meets two of my three criteria. The third being he's probably a muslim. If he's not, well two outa three. Bad odds to just get all teary-eyed about being suspicious about the guy and worrying about his feelings being hurt because he fits a PROFILE.

This isn't about little Japanese guys with shaved heads running around doing this (and yes I do agree with internment in WWII) or Irish drunks throwing potatoes. It's about middle eastern men, 19-36 year old, that are muslim extremists who want to kill as many Americans as they possibly can.

Some of you liberal politically-correct types are forgetting something here: she didn't just walk off the plane because they were Arab, she walked off the plane because they were Arab and acting in a suspicious manner. If she had walked on the plane, saw an Arab guy sitting there, and immediately caused a scene and demanded to be let off the plane, then you might have a valid argument. But that's not the case. She waited until she saw suspicious behavior. This is exactly what all of us should be looking for.

About a year ago, when I was still in the left seat at Pinnacle, I had a similar situation. About 5 Arab males in their 20s-30s were acting somewhat suspiciously. The gate agent let me know that she had noticed them behaving strangely during check in and sitting at the gate. I thanked her for the heads up and told her that we'd keep an eye on them. During boarding, the stew noticed that the men were scattered throughout the plane and were all keeping a very close eye on the flight deck door. After the stew told me that, I decided that maybe the gate agent wasn't imagining things and it was time to look into it further. I had the agent check to see where they were going, and it turned out that all of them were Pakistani citizens, but all of them had tickets to different final destinations. It all seemed just a little off to me: a bunch of Pakistani men who were talking in Arabic to each other as if they were good friends during check in, who then act as if they don't know each other and scatter throughout the plane during boarding while watching the flight deck, and all of them are going different places? Nope, too many red flags for me. I called the VP Security and he called up DHS. They pulled the guys off the plane and took them for questioning. I called the VP a week later to see what had come of it, figuring that I had probably just overreacted. This is all that the VP could tell me: "The men are still in custody due to an ongoing investigation. DHS won't say anything further, because they say the case is security-sensitive information." Moral of the story? Don't be afraid to say something if you notice suspicious behavior from Arabic men. It might be nothing, or it might be the next dry-run from a group of would-be hijackers. Keep an eye out.

This woman did nothing wrong, and she doesn't need to apologize. We need more people like her, not less.
