Coyote Works flight kit

Hey everybody,

Has anyone had any experience with this flight kit (specifically on the 737)? I am trying to decide between this one and a Scott Bag. The steel skid plates are very appealing to me.

I can't imagine why a flight case is worth $310 plus shipping when you can get one from Office Max for $40 bucks.

If their products ever go on at least a 50% off sale, let me know. Hell, my leather/nylon bag has lasted since Christmas of 2000 and is still holding together and was $125.

I have one and it's great. Lifetime warranty....office depot (no lifetime warranty). If anything breaks, call them and they'll fix it. Skid plates are nice and bag is good quality. They have some for sale in some pilot shops like stop over store in MSP right next to a scott's bag so you can look the 2 over and see what the differences are.

I have the entire Coyote Works flight kit (bag, binders) and I can easily say it is the best bag I have ever owned. Having previously destroyed 3 other flight bags over the years I can truly say this one seems indistructable. Also, the customer service is excellent. Although I have no experience with it on a 737 I highly recommend it.

I second what everyone else says. They're pricey, but I wanted one bag the rest of my life. You get what you pay for. Outstanding product and fits perfect on the 737.

I got in a 737 a couple of months ago and found 7 C/B heads busted off behind the fo's seat. The C/B were right where a bag would have hit the panel while being taken out.

If you get this bag be very carefull putting it in and out of the cockpit.

That would pretty much go for any bag on either side. That, to me, is a design flaw in the airplane and not the bags that go in there.

But yes, one should be careful removing and placing one's bag in the box.

Back to the topic. I have the Coyote Works standard bag with the skid plates. It is awesome. Sturdiest bag I've ever owned.

They did talk me out of getting the saddle style bag which I'm glad they did b/c on the 737 (300 especially) that handle would probably get chewed up by seat adjustment levers, etc.

What happened to the Purdy leather bags? I bought one back in '99 and will probably be using it another 20 years--I bought one for my wife a few weeks ago and it is a POS--poor quality leather, poor finish, repositioned insides that means you can either have glasses case #2 or the maglite, but not both (if you want the lid to close)...wtf?

Look at the leather flight bag offered by crewgear.com. Leather rapped around a steal frame. Skid plates along the bottom and $100 less than Scotts or Coyote Works. Fits well in the 737,wears like iron.

They did the exact same for me. Like you, I am very glad I took their advice. Great bag.

I totally agree with you. I had bought a Purdy leather bag after hearing great things about it, but it died on me after about two years. Huge POS and waste of money.

I've had my PNS kit back for 7 years now, dad bought it for me when I upgraded on the 727.

It's getting a little long in the tooth so I was shopping for a new one. It was the leather/nylon mix, great quality, just looking really beat up in the leather part these days and sagging in one corner.

The new ones aren't made with the same materials, I think they skimp a lot these days. But I'm not paying $300 bucks for a freaking bag I only use at work...

Do you have to pay for your own flight bags at CAL?

We got ours free the first day of class at ExpressJet.

I think most airlines give them to new hires.
