Simple question. If you were on the West Coast which company would be better to be at as a newhire? I don't know how senior LAX and ANC are for FedEx but I understand newhires and UPS can end up in ONT and ANC?

Ups - Ont

Hmmm, well, if you won million dollars would you want it in 10s or in 20s?

Sorry, don’t mean to pick on you and I do understand your concern.

You're right, it’s definitely possible to get ONT as a newhire at UPS; I did and there seem to be a new class going this way every few weeks or so. First year pay is better at Purple but if you want to pick up some JA assignments you can ease the pain, but it’ll be painful no matter what (tons of JA flying for new guys – they start calling from the bottom of the seniority list – but remember JA flying here is voluntarily! You don’t want it? Don’t take it!)

Don’t know much about Fedex domicile in LAX but ONT is awesome! Great domicile, very cool and laid back pilots to fly with, and you move up very quickly here. I had a hard line 5 months after finishing IOE (my hardline was pretty “crappy” but I "improved" it with trip trades).

I don’t live on the West coast so I commute and bid lines with commercial deadheads on both ends and it has worked great so far.

Based on what I’m hearing from my friends I think ONT might be the best domicile we got! Of course the other domiciles are pretty good too but I think as a newbie, your QoL will improve the fastest here. Of course, if you go to ANC, I’m sure you’ll be able to hold a hard line before you even finish your training.. :)

Either way, you can’t go wrong with any of the two companies.

Sssshhhhhhhhh! There are guys senior to us that come on these boards, ya know!

ONT is going down the drain.....FAST! I hear the SDF base is the place to be! :D

Alright, the real question is: How Sr. is LAX @ FedEx? Can a newhire get it? What equipment is there?

What do your trips look like? Are they all nighters?

Now there is the question of the ages, asked by the single wizzard of today ...

TransMach

Go to the company you have really goood connections at. You will really neeeed those goood connections for fredex.

Alright, the real question is: How Sr. is LAX @ FedEx? Can a newhire get it? What equipment is there?

Actually, the real (and the first) question is: which company can you get hired at first?

All other questions are based on the answer to the first question...

How about QOL? Pass benefits? How long till you can hold MD-11?

Is the MD-10 or MD-11 better?

ROTC or OTS?

QOL?

I think psycics was asking about the ONT UPS domicile (since he/she replied to my response) so I'm a little confused here... We only have MD11s - no MD10s... Don't know what ROTS or OTS stands for?...Sure, we had ROTC at my college...?

Okaaaaaaaaay then how about the seccond question or the third or whatever number you want to call it: How Sr. is LAX for FedEx? (I assume the new LOA will change things). Also, is the 75/76 the only equipment in ONT for UPS?

FDX bottom FO LAX is 4180 out of 4750ish. You can get there within 2 years when we are hiring, never if we are not.

(P.S. AirlinePilotCentral Forums is the new place for FDX questions)

Wow, I definitely prefer your revised post ;) I was just trying to make a point that either place is a jackpot, but its all good.

You're correct - ONT is 757/767 base only, so is MIA. ANC is MD11 and 747-400. SDF has all the fleets (except -400 - at least for now :)).
