What's the word? It seems like one of the least talked about regionals on this board.

Are they hiring? Their website says "accepting resumes." If they aren't hiring when are they planning to start?

Time on reserve?
The schedules?
The usual...?

The fact that you dont hear them mentioned on here is a VERY good thing....

I think they are hiring but I dont have too much more info for ya!

Training plan does not show any new hires but, historically QX does not do much hiring in the summer. We do have a lot of people getting hired elsewhere so they will need to have more new hires sooner than later. Sorry I can't offer more.

There are two different rumors i keep hearing about them:
- They will ask for wage cuts for growth showing the Frontier example.
- They will increase the wages so that they will not suffer from shortage of pilots..

If you ask me, their source of 500 hr wonder kids from UND and Central will be enough to feed them.

While they do hire quite a few UND and CWU people, it's not always the case. My new hire class last winter only had 1 of about 14. But I'm sure it doesn't hurt to know the special UND shake.

Growth at Horizon is all about ASM's. Horizon will be growing in the next few years with fewer pilots on the seniority list.

Great place to hang your hat if you like the NW but if you want to get your time in and move on do not come here. Even If you do stay for upgrade movement is very VERY slow. We have 17 year jet captains who cant hold a line.

Reserve could be up to three years depending on what equipment you are placed in. The last newhire in the Q200 will no doubt be at the very bottom of the list until the a/c leaves(2009).

Our schedules are 12 off in a 35 day bid for reserve and a lineholder does 5 four day trips on a typical bid.

I'm sure we have some classes planned for the fall and will be filling slots for the RJ and the Q400. I've heard a significant amout of slots will be opening due to the amount of FO's leaving for quicker upgrade.

I heard 3 out of the 7 Horizon pilots that interviewed in the last couple of weeks were FOs. One FO which I know for sure was hired. I think there are quite a few FOs that are close to 2000hrs. with Horizon are going to apply. 2000hrs. puts you about 3 years at Horizon with 3 more to go to upgrade.

So much for TPIC being "everything." In any case, I'd always thought QX would be a great place to work. I guess I should put a resume in, though it will probably be a moot point because I'm applying other places and will probably hear from them first.

I'm not sure I follow you. Are you saying the other 4 were captain interviews?

I would think that they put all the UND people in one class together so they can giggle at one another.

The rumor I heard (from a check airman, source of all credible rumors ) was 6 hired at AS from QX: 3 CAs and 3 FOs. Also heard 6 more (obviously CAs) going to SWA.

This constitutes massive attrition at Horizon. :p

Enjoying my 7-year internship!

Hey Reverse,

I drank a couple, or five, for you in Chicago the other night!!
Hey Cappy,

You should really change out that avatar for the Tinkerbell plane. It suits you better! ;)

How are things treating you over there on the other side? Is it true what I hear, that they use yardsticks in their beatings?

What's it taking a QX FO to get hired by AS? Is it all sons & daughters of the higher-ups or just the FO's that got a lotta pull?

A willingness to believe AS will still be around in 10 or 12 years when you upgrade! :D

I heard that about 40 FOs applied...these would be the first three hired. But like Reverse said, six to AS and six to SW does constitute massive attrition round here!

Unless you mean five pitchers, it sounds like you're exercising restraint I didn't previously know you had.

Remember, if anyone asks, you're an accountant or a stay-at-home dad.

Just found out today, they are NOT hiring FO's. Got the old, "please watch the jobs.horizonair.com website for future openings."

It seems even with all the people now starting to leave the puzzle palace peeps are still offering LOA's to RJ FO's and a few captains in the dash. Me so confused.

With all the Q400s in the current order on property, we're now losing 11 Q200s to CommutAir in the coming months. Losing people or not, we'll be overstaffed.

Horizon is just like PDT, but a great contract. A bunch of lifers that wont leave, no upgrade in sight and no growth ever again. next question....
