Just watched piece about Northwest NBC. As usual, the media gets the story wrong, or tries to create a false impression.

While Brian Williams was speaking to a talking head reporter, NBC showed old file footage of pilots conducting informational picketing (Mesaba).
It certainly gave the impression that those "damn pilots" were the trouble makers again!

america doesn't have any freedom of speech.

if you do get to free with your speech and it gains any traction you will be contacted and stopped.

and if you don't stop you will be made to stop.

The ONE FREAKIN' time I would like the mainstream media to display their typical liberal agenda and back "democrat" causes and they go and screw me. What the he77 is up with the MSM? They can support every leftie cause under the sun except for organized labor? WTF??

I watched it and I got the impression that they were laying the blame on management's failure to staff properly.

Despite the video of the information picketing.

Don't forget to hate ALPA.....

Saw the segment too. I'm gonna have to agree. They did seem to indicate that the bankruptcy caused the subsequent staffing issues.

except people remember images more than they remember words. the editors did a great job, now anytime someone who watched that segment will have the clips of pilots striking flash in their heads. remember folks, labor=bad to them. the "liberal" media isn't liberal in the slightest.

Yea, I thought of that as well.

It's very true.

Major media loves cheap, disposable, easily intimidated, easily outsourced labor just as much as any other group of corporations.

They are all smiles and friendliness until it is time to sign the paycheck.

I can see the media supporting auto workers or truck drivers but over paid pilots who are being asked to work 90 hours per month. Come on, that is asking a bit much isn't it?

How about ALPA spend some money to educate the public on what a 90 hour block month really is. What first year pay rates really are, and what it really costs to get the training to even become an airline pilot

Because the return on investment is negligible. The fact is, the public will always think we're overpaid and underworked, even if we only top out at $95k and only get 8 days off a month. To them, we have some sort of "glamorous" lifestyle and should be happy with what we've got. No amount of educating them is going to change their perception. ALPA's focus should remain on politics in DC to get the politicians on board and get the right politicians into office. That's how you make progress for labor.
