UAL's profit is proof that even a blind squire can find an acorn.
This just belittles the profit announcements made by the other carriers. If a business run as poorly as UAL can do it is just easy to do right now.
The true test will come if all the airlines are able to make money this time next year. Then I will be convinced it is because they are so smart not just lucky.
Well, UA was more profitable than CO, and slightly less than AA. UA also has more money in the bank than AA, DL, CO, NW, or US (to the tune of 5.1 billion.)
So if there was a downturn next year as many predict, who would be in a better position? The company dropping money on new widebodies and expanding to every international destination under the sun, or the one putting money in the bank and consolidating on their strengths while upgrading their product.
BTW, if you look at UA's new business and first class international product, it blows every other US carrier out of the water.
AA is up to $6.4B with just under $6B in unrestricted cash. TC
All that money they're making, and not one uAL pilot is even miffed that you were shafted, and sold out. enjoy the 10 days off a month.

Just curious, what is AA's debt compared to UAL's?
I heard that Delta had the lowest debt of all the lagacies, any truth to this?
Yeah but just remember they still suck! I just read it on FI.com so it must be true!![]()

You really love that movie. Jeesh, Excellent. Did it also come out in Nov of 01? That's hysterical.
Going that fast they could go right over my 13 year old daughters stereo and never hear it!
