EXACTLY!!! That is why now is not the time!

Your logic is flawed, tell me which airline has increased pay because of the current situation? And by increase pay I will increase their payscale across the board to attract pilots? NONE, they have only created signing bonuses for NEW pilots. Supply and Demand has dictated the hours in which companies hire NOT their payscales. Oh BTW, has Colgan created any bonuses to attract pilots? They are behind the power curve as usual.

IFLY34, if what you say is correct, then why didn't they throw such a low ball Q400 payscale? they knew they were going to have staffing problems the writing was on the wall.

Now IS the time. With the pressures that the labor market are putting on management, the union would have a lot of leverage in a getting improvements put into a LEGALLY BINDING contract. Otherwise those improvements that you are talking about will be temporary at best.

Why do pilots who meet the minimums for multiple airlines (including jet operators) go to Colgan, Big Sky or Commutair? If you meet the hiring minimums for COEX, Republic, Skywest, wouldn't you rather get some jet time vs. Beech or Slaab time? Other crappy airlines like TSA and Mesa are offering jet slots for low-hour pilots too. I am not suggesting that your QOL would be that much better at TSA, Mesa or Pinnacle, but you might get yourself closer to major flying if that's what you want.

Bottom line, if you don't like your situation at Colgan, there are plenty of other opportunities out there - vote with your feet and bolt..........

I just read another thread that said we have to pay for all transportation to the hotels etc.... then they will "reimburse" use.-- said by TB. If this is true I am just sickened. Just green in the face..

Post copied from the 1900 dude: "That's all well and good but according to TB, we are expected to pay out of pocket and then send in a reimbursal request for any and all expenses that occur in the normal course of operations. These expenses include, but are not limited to, taxis, hotel, tolls, rental cars, etc. No BS here."

well judging by the droves of pilots getting hired by the majors out of colgan i would say your thinking on "jet time" as a better way to get to the majors is a "waste of time"

besides props are fun to fly.

Beware Colgan Pilots there is a new hire FO nicknamed GRIMACE! You will all soon meet him and see what i mean. Keep you hands away from his mouth he will eat anything in sight! He sleeps in his uniform he has no other clothes

Ha. As for you guy's it looks like you were too busy fillin' your face with the Forth of July BBQ the company bought. How did your matching 401K taste.

We're in denial about the exsistence of MX. Just kidding. Frankly I don't know how you folks do it. Tremendous pressure to keep the planes flying, no parts to speak of and a high turnover rate. The regionals are going to soon begin to recognize (not just Colgan) that airplanes don't fly without qualified mechanics to fix them and qualified pilots to fly them. Now that the labor market is getting tight, demand will drive wages and incentives up.

I haven't been paying too much attention to the Colgan threads lately, but I am glad to see that most of the post seem to understand the importance of ALPA.

Trust me, now more than ever (under Pinnacle Corp.), believe me, you want ALPA on the property.

Real Pilots. Real Airline. Real Union.

Vote yes and vote often,

Turbo
