Just as the title said Im looking for some thoughts...insight...or experiences anyone has had with Bigsky airlines im just about at their minimums and am going to apply seeing they there hubs to Boston (where im from!) any info would help!

Why settle for less? I'd ask Bubba the same question over at Colgan? "Simply the best" Eagle has a Boston base, don't they?

I know of at least one person who was hired as a street captain over there for BOS. Was told the pay rate would be 37/hr. In groundschool the C.P. came in and said they changed their mind, pay would be 30/hr. Pretty rotten if you ask me.

Not a rumor. I left Billings and headed home instead of attending the interview. Made me sick. They had the best rates for the Beech 1900. They took consesions despite massive growth and profitability. This in order to get good rates on the Q400. Of course there were none on the property. It wasnt for me. I fugured that I would be just a miserable at Big Sky as I am at Mesa.

Good Luck though

av8 what have you heard about big sky getting Q400's?

I haven't heard anything. They gave up Beech 1900 pay to get good Q400 pay according to one of their senior guys in Billings. Even if an announcment is made today it would be at least a year before you would see one on property. Proving runs etc. When he told me that I would be making 30 instead of 37 I climbed onboard a jet and went home. I diddn't even interview. I am sure the chief pilot knew this when I spoke with him over the phone and he told me 37. I sent him an e-mail with my concearns and he never responded. This to me was an act of dishonesty. From the chief! Sorry I don't want my carear in his hands. To reiterate though. No Q400s on the way but they do have really good pay rates for them.I am not saying that Big Sky is not right for anyone but it was not right for me.

They are using the money saved on the "bait-and-switch" deal to underwrite the $5,000 and $1,500 bonuses paid to new-hire Captains and F/Os. Pretty crappy deal if you ask me to quote a payscale and then change it after you give your notice at another company. Alot of CJC mechs. are leaving for Big Sky in BOS though. What is the scoop on this Q-400 rumor at Big Sky? I think that anyone that believes that picked a bad week to quit drinking!

I ask about the Q400's because big sky is still under a scope clause in which they are limited to planes with 19 seats or less. Their parent company MAIR, is in a legal battle trying to get it removed.

im flying right now for a 135 here in fort lauderdale, flying c-402's back n forth to the bahamas... its kind of scary the amount of hours you can get into a regional with!

what does paul foley do he tries to get scope clauses thrown out. I hope the judges laughs foley out the places. anything right now over 19 seats will be flown by mesaba pilots. not by mesaba but its pilots

For the record, the new contract has not been voted on yet, so it has not been approved. $37/hr is still in effect for those who are hired. No concessions have been made yet, and I don't see the pilot group ratifying the new contract.
