When in terrain mode, what do the 2 brown numbers posted on the MFD represent? Are they the lowest and highest terrain being painted? They usually look something like this:

052
023

They correspond to large colored numbers painted on the ground in certain parts of the country, in order to help you navigate. Just look out the window as you fly past them next time..

I believe they are the tallest two shown on the display. Not the tallest and shortest.

Dont listen to these guys. They are liars. The numbers represent the respective age of your flight attendant, in years older than you, on top. And their weight, in tenths on bottom.

So, in this example. Say youre 25. Your flight attendant would then be 77 years old, and weigh 230 lbs. Look it up. Its in your POH.

That's some funny sh!t right there...

'HUGE Terrain,Terrain, pull out, pull out!!!'

I was told that the upper number represents the hightest obstacle in the depicted range. The lower number represents something that the instructor was unsure of.

It's the lowest elevation (darkest shade of green) being painted.

(I think this is going to get smart@ss reply of the day.)

The top number represents the average regional captain hourly rate over this given portion of the topography, the bottom number represents the first officer's hourly rate. The brownish fecal matter color is used to represent that these rates are indeed; in the toilet.

(I'll be here all week folks.....)

The upper number is the highest terrain on the depicted area of the display and the lowest is the average floor height (not the lowest) of the same area.
You probably know this but, this is a virtual terrain map overlay programmed into the FMS, not a radar tarrain depiction.
