No, if you pay for next day guaranteed delivery, and you get it. What kind of guarantee does any airline give about bags or making a connection, or a seat on the plane for that matter? What about those people that by tickets on the oversold flight and then do not get to ride. Maybe at christmas next year I can arrange to have your package just left on the ramp. I might even offer it a free voucher for $5 bucks of food.

Well we can get them there the next day too and we don't charge extra for it. I mean how hard is it to get there the next day? Big deal, we get the overwhelming majority of our passengers and baggage to their destination within 14 minutes of their published itinerary, let alone the next day. When you can come up with a delivery system that guarantees most of your freight gets delivered within 14 minutes of scheduled delivery, then let's talk, but a 24 hour window is easy.

Your delivery is free when we don't get it there on time. What do you offer for lost luggage or missed connecctions?

Exactly what it says on the back of the ticket. Of course you could pay extra and buy travelers insurance.

OK FDJ2 so not everyone is happy with FedEx either. So use a different delivery service.
The original point was about service. As FedEx pilots we get to travel on many different airlines and see the differences. We travel on both domestic and international carriers, both first and coach and have a different perspective. Business travelers are not like the general public who use search engines to find the cheapest fare. They have brand loyality, look for good service and vote with their wallet.
The 'brand" is important to these people. How long did it take Delta to Figure this out? Was it not just recently they announced they are finally redoing first class seating for international travel?
Open skies will hurt the domestic cariers. As more routes are opened to the foriegn carriers, the bread and butter business traveler will be switching, and the international routes that the US carriers find so profitable will be less so. The international carriers know how to do it right, and their planes are more comfortable and better configured in both business and first class.

In an article in the Atlanta Business Chronicle today interviewing Grinstein:

"He added that business travel is a core part of why Delta is rebranding. The seats in the back of an airplane, he said, are a "commodity." But the seats in the front are "a brand. Business travelers respond to the brand."

He said that Delta's focus on flying more direct routes overseas will also target the business traveler. In addition to Shanghai and London's Heathrow, Grinstein said Delta will seek routes to Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney and another frequency to Japan."

Look for a more 777s coming soon, along with 787s. No mention of new Lubbock nonstops. (Darn it!)

Bye Bye--General Lee

Ya know this type of thinking is what hurt us after 9-11. I asked the folks during new hire training why the concentrated on 1st class and forgot the "back" and they said it was because the majority of our revenue came from 1st class...then that almost dried up...and the revenue we DID NOT concentrate on flew on Airtran, SWA, etc. We are heading down that same path, it seems...

I airline at least 4 times a month but on average it comes to 7 flights a month. I have flown on everyone so far and out of the Legacy guys I have to say that Delta is the best and the one I ask my company to use. All the F/A's are friendly, gate agents try their best and their planes are very clean.
NWA the F/A's are old and bitter because of the BK. AA uses freakin Maddogs on flights that should be 757's and their F/a's are indifferrent and short tempered. USAir well that is now just like flying on a LCC as they have cut their First Class back to nothing. UAL sucked before the BK and still suck today. Airtran I found the seats uncomfortable and not the same class of people I sit with in first class on the Legacy carriers. Jetblue is not bad but 95% of the flights go thru JFK. Southwest, ugh is all I can say. Frontier well they were very nice and the F/A's offered to turn on the TV for me at no charge.

Some "brand" General. Flew first class ATL-SJU did not even get a meal. Just beer and chips, what a joke. Airtran gives me that in coach on a one hour flightand adds XM to boot (nice ride by the way Aittran guys). NWA, and American have much better service in first class.

Please go fly Airtran then! We will fill all of our seats with or without your whiney a$$!

Yes FedEx paid for the ticket, but I chose to take your airline, and I will not make the mistake again. The guy who works for IBM didn't buy his ticket either. Not sure what our corporate discount is, but probably the same as many of your other big clients.
The point is it is about customer service for busines travelers, and Mother Delta just does not provide it. Flew NWA the other day from PDX-MSP and had a fine breakfast, 3.5 block by the way. I really do not care what kind of new paint job you guys have, until you fix your service I will not spend FedEx money at Delta.

Did not mention that the old style drop down movie system was not working either and we were an hour late to leaveing Hotlanta.

Did I mention Airtran got me there 20 min early the other day.

Let me tell you about Fed-Ex. It is biggest $hit hole I have ever worked at. Spent 14 months there in the hub while I was on furlough! Your hub is run totally by blacks that are all biggots! Whites have no rights at all in that place. You hurt yourself for any reason, it's your fault, you are written up and punished! If you check in 1 minute late you are written up! The young black kids just strole in whenever they want no big deal! You pay your people slave wages! $165 a week! Talk about a company run by a bunch of slave drivers. Your buses smell like $hit, your flight operations area sucks, we had a better flight ops at the regionalI worked for! Your hub operations people steal things left and right! Your tracking system sucks (UPS is way better!) You have a pilot that works there named Donny who thinks he is GOD!(Total nuts!) Half of the time my packages would either arrive late, or damaged! Your pilots wreck airplanes like every week! I believe that I heard you had the worst safety record of any airline in the country. Flipping airplanes in Newark, running of runways, copilots landing sideways and tearing the gear off, crashing on approach in Florida, pilots using hammers on each other in the cockpit! If you want to live until 60 FedEx is not the place to be! In all, Fedex sucks, your pilots suck, and your airline should take the place on the TV show worlds most dangerous job!

I will put our percentage loss rate of packages against your percentage loss rate of bags any day.

I bet you have more packages damaged and stolen every week than Delta Connection losses in a year! Did you know thaat there are more drugs stolen from Fed-Ex than any other spot in the world! The majority of prescription drugs sold on the street are stolen from FedEx, by Fedex people! While I worked there I watched your tug drivers hauling a$$ and droping packages all over the place, dozens of other tugs would drive right by! They do not give a $hit about it, for slave wages why would they! In any case if the package made it on board, there is a good chance your topgun pilots would crash and burn it any ways! I thaught I would add, I saw your MD10 crash in Memphis! I could not believe it when I saw your pilots, and jum seaters jumping out the cockpit and throwing their Christmas presents out with them while your customers packages burned! That is Customer Service!

I don't think USmcfdx wants to talk about fed ex' safety record. The only reason there's not much mention of it is because there's no people onboard, thank GOD!

No the original post from the General was tooting the horn of the Delta "brand". I was pointing out that the "brand" is not quite up to par when compared to the other carriers. My opinion only, with facts of my flight experience to back it up.

Your sofull of $hit! Do you believe yourself? Go back and read your posts and tell me you were not posting flame here! Give me a break!

And Yet you stayed there 18 months trying to get a job, loser.

They did not hire any pilots at that time, dic$ head!

But you admit that the company that you badmouth now was the company that you tried to backdoor your way into when times were bad.

You want us to repost all your post about your travails in the hub, and all your posts on "why o why can't I get an interview?"

Nice link.

This is part of it. Real impartial.

Then there is David, formerly an express mail pilot who has been out-of-work since FedEx strong-armed Congress into giving it a no-bid contract to fly the mail. And just what is the benefit to taxpayers, consumers and corporate customers, David asks?

I tried anything I could at any airline just like everyone else! Post 9-11 there just were not that many jobs out there! Your airline would not interview furloughs but if you worked there a year I was told that you could get an interview! You have to get pass the monkeys in the hub first! Just no way to do that as a white pilot! Your place sucks! Your service sucks, your pilots suck, your safety record sucks, your security sucks! Fedex customer service, what a joke! Fedex next day guarentee, what a joke! Fedex tracking system, what a joke! Fedex making money-I'll give you that!

Nice!!

It's here forever, racist.

I recommend drinking more before posting, it really helps.

I am not racist at all! However, your Memphis hub is run by blacks that as a group do anything they can to keep white people from advancing! It's a fact! Try to take this to their Fair Treatment Board, they are all black! They dio not ALLOW any representation at all! Fedex sucks end of story! I would not go there for all the money in the world! I dont want to die in plane crash!

Screw David. I AM pissed that a stamp now's gonna cost 41 cents, cause FDX gouged the Post Office and now their gonna gouge us.
