But if you go there don't say nobody told you about it.have fun flying the DASH 8 100[/FONT]

Plus anyone picking up any of the 3,000hrs in open flying will recieve Double!! I mean Double Premium pay!!

I know it sucks to work on ur day off, but the month of May will offer everyone some serious cash!!

Wsurf already gotcha on the whole Trout being gone thing, so I'll let that little slip alone.

We slam people for paying for training. We bash companies for failing to pay pilots wages and provide reasonable accomodations during training. We tell pilots all the time that they shouldn't work for "bottom feeder" airlines which compensate thier pilots below the industry average.

So...

Here we have a company who pays you during training, that doesn't have a training bond, that provides hotels to the new hire pilots. The rates of pay are comperable to other companies for the equipment and the contractual work rules will stand up against the contracts of any regional you can name. In addition, they are giving new hires $2,500 just to show up, then another $2,500 to stay a specified period of time. And we are complaining about this? I wish someone had given me a signing bonus when I got hired at TSA 8 years ago.

It seems to me that you, dear poster, are being a tad inconsistant. I imagine you used to work at ALG, and that may be coloring your judgement a tad. I am on my second regional, and while things here at PDT are far from perfect, they are certiantly better than they ever were (or could be) at TSA. The hassles here are the same as they would be at any regional airline. Sorry you had such a rough time, but from the tenor of your post I am guessing you may have brought some of that bad news down on yourself.

7 years, never had much of an issue. Not always happy, but I have always been able to make things work pretty much to my advantage by telling them to go to hell... But making them look forward to the trip.

Whats wrong with a Dash anyway? Can't handle it big guy? (Insert word for feminine cleansing product here).

just the ebb and flow of the times. in another 24 months or so (give or take a few) pilots will be begging for any pilot job.

years ending in 7 thru 0-1ish are good, years ending in 0-1ish thru 05-06ish are bad. look back all the way to the 60's and the cycle shows this.

where will you be when the music stops???

Were you drunk or on drugs when you typed your post? Maybe you were sober? In that case I'm sorry.

Here's where to find help:

Good Luck and Good Bowling.

Uh...that's alot of money!!

Uh...that's alot of money!!

Uh...no its not!!
Hmmm, lets see....get paid $3,750.00 ($5,000.00 after taxes) to take a job that pays $19,032.00/year (72 hrsX24.00X12X.75 + perdiem of 200 hrsX12X1.45) which equals a grand total of...drum roll please...$22,782.00/year! All that cash for being away from home 250 days a year.

Better than Mesa.

However we have a great working contract! New FO's just won't get 72hrs! Most will go over that every month!
I made 28k my first year! What is really sad is that our FO's make more money then the FO's at Mesa flying a freakin CRJ-900!!!!

So with that, and the 5k for getting hired...... Kinda a nice first year pay to get your feet wet in this shi$$y industry!!

Actually the number you're looking for is $24,032 - an equally unimpressive first year salary. You can't combine a post-tax amount ($3750) and a pre-tax amount ($19,032) and get a meaningful result. That aside, you're right that a $5k bonus hardly makes a pig into a princess. Still, it beats not getting it.

You could work a second job..........

The 19,032 is post taxes, hence the .75 multiplier....and I stand corrected by WSurf. The new amount would be $25,230 if you use the 1000 hour rule and take into account taxes on all income except the perdiem. WOW! $25,000./year.
You guys and gals have to either stop all your whining and fly your dream job or quit, like I did, and get a career that pays a respectable and fair wage. I know...its not all about money but likewise, its is about having a life that you enjoy...you are only here once so make the best of it. And remember, 60 years old comes soon enough and what are you going to do then?
For me, it was simple math...earn 100K/year (avg) for the next 30 years or 45K (avg). After normal living expenses and retirement planning, there is only a difference of about 4.2 million dollars at age 60.

I don't remember anyone whining? Jeez man!!! Get laid, go god's sake!!!!

We are all taking about a regional freakin airline!!! They all suck!! Some suck worse, some suck better!!

But to fly a Turbo Prop for 30k for your first year.... Ain't too bad!!
I don't think there are many RJ operators that you can say that for!!

Apparently you dont read every other post on this board...its nothing but pi55ing and moaning.
And as far as getting laid...are you kidding? This topic needs to be a whole other benefit to not working for the airlines.
Well atl east you acknowledge that working for a regional sucks...question is is how long are you going to subject yourself to that? By the way, where did 30K come from?

Of course!! I just hit 1500hrs pic!! Believe me, I wanna get out and fly for a cargo carrier!!
But I can honestly say that my Years at PDT haven't been all that bad! The First 3 years were fukin awesome!!! I upgraded 2 years ago, and even though it hasn't been that great....................... it hasn't been that bad either!!
I have friends at almost every regional airline!! I can tell you this...... PDT ain't that bad!!

And if you didn't work at PDT you can't compare it to PSA! I gotta couple of buds at PSA!! Believe me.... its better here at PDT!!
