it will be a regular domicile. to this point, it has been reserve only.

Why will it get ugly? We're already doing the flying out of ATL. This will just cut down on the deadheading and help with the 5 day trips that were needed to cover the flying from SLC.

Outstanding. More arrogant, coolaid drinking ignorant fools flying bigger jets for nothing. You creatures are really something special.

If I transfer to ATL to make the commute an hour shorter, you guys won't take ******************** in my flightbag will you?...........

HaHa

And the streak continues of more bad news for ASA.

I guess you guys will park in the new, improved Lot 3 too. Just keep in mind that the express buses are for ASA employees only :)

Why do the Skywest guys have to come here and gloat? I'm sure you're not going to bid ATL, but why make it harder on the poor bastards that are going to draw the short straw? Idiots!

What is the general consensus on what's going to happen with ASA? Are they going to slowly take over ASA's routes and eventually dissolve ASA, or are they going to move Skywest in to ASA's territory then merge the seniority lists?

It would have to be a slow death. Where are they going to get 1700 fresh faces?

Where is the email addy to send my resume. This is good news for people that live in ATL that want an alternative to ASA.

Believe me... there's no gloating here! Me personally, I'd much rather see the growth of the domicile at ASA. That begs the question, is the domicile/flying in ATL growing for ASA at all? I really don't see the point of having Skywest crews in a base where ASA is already established.

It's called a whipsaw. Sad to say it, but anyone paying attention to aviation saw it coming as soon as Skywest bought ASA. Good luck to all involved.

Where are the efficiencies gained by closing SLC for ASA? This just makes it more obvious that Jerry will lie to your face. He said SLC was closing cause it didn't make sense to have both ASA and SKW flying out of there. But it's ok to open up an ATL base for SKY now?

ASA will be dissolved as soon as the routes can be covered by "the portfolio"....that will take time, but ASA is losing about 4 planes/month. It will likely accelerate in the fall after the summer (peak) flying is no longer needed.

It definitely could be the whole whipsaw thing. No argument there. Maybe Delta wants to have a more "diverse" regional coverage in ATL? But then why would they close the ASA base in SLC? Either way, I think ASA should be growing in ATL. Just remember when our guys come out there, please give them the same respect we gave your crews in SLC. We pilots aren't the ones who choose where our company decides to open a base or what companies they purchase.

well thats the problem here, people on this thing blame each other not right people who make decisions, and they blame other pilots for working at a some company, instead of looking to do something as a group.
one guy came up with a great idea on another post once, nationwide strike sept 1 2007 until we all get a 5 $ raise an hour...all the commuters. imagine what that can do..

Do you have any source for your statement?

The "official" word is still that we are to recieve 1 CRJ200 and 2 CRJ700's later this year as soon as we have pilots to staff them.

Regardless, I really despise this whipsaw game where we are constantly under threat. I saw that SkyWest management was bragging about their relatively low turnover rate (for a regional) and talking about the airline being a CAREER airline. That is really good and I wish ASA had that philosophy.

SkyWest's 14 crews fits with the 11 CRJ900's in ATL. Remember these airplanes were part of ASA's firm order, were initially set up for ASA's Certificate and would have been operated by ASA if we had agreed to pay cuts that would have undermined those pilots at SkyWest and Comair.

I think it has more to do with flying the 900 than anything....if ASA flew the plane, skywest in ATL probably wouldn't make much sense. we don't fly the 50 there....

200/700/900.... who cares? It's just differences training! ASA pilots could easily fly those aircraft. We have our differences training down to 2 days... 1 day of ground and 1day of sim.

Per another Fins thread, I thought those airplanes were ordered [and financed] by DAL for their discretionary use [though the post was re: paint], not ordered by a ACMI carrier to do as they wished. Perhaps my interpretation of the 'other' thread is incorrect, but methinks not; seems like somebody is trying to have it both ways. Not that whipsaw is good by any means, but there is something to be said about diversification in a business strategy, though that line of thought seemed to go by the wayside in SLC (unless Mesa and ExpressJet come in to fill the missing ASA gap). WKWTF is going on; don't forget airlines don't normally run on Stakeholder Theory...

My guess is SKYW is doing the ATL 90 flying until ASA gets a 90 rate and finishes contract negotiations. Then the flying will probably be transferred back to ASA (which makes more sense).

I second the notion of pointing the finger at the actual decision makers and not the pilot groups. We didn't choose to fly out of ATL as you didn't choose to fly out of SLC. We are all doing what needs to be done to earn a bag of groceries.

Eric - A wag of the finger is deserved when one group secures an airplane from another group as a result of concessionary pay rates.

A tip of the hat is deserved when pilots are offered airplanes in exchange for concessions and choose to maintain the standards of their profession at their personal cost.

Skywest won't transfer the 900's back to ASA- it makes as much sense as moving the 70's to SkyWest. It's too expensive and isn't worth the cost. We lost out and missed the boat on the 900's. Our negotiated 900 rate is just a formallity.
