Is their any Hawaiian Air pilots that can answer some questions???
When will Hawaiian hire off the streets again? Have all of the furloughees been recalled? If not, what is the estimate to get the last one recalled?
Questions? I got about a million. Answers? Hmmm... probably in short supply, but go ahead and fire away. (There's quite a few of us HA people who occasionally haunt this board so probably someone knows the answer to whatever you're looking for.)

Also, do you have any non-Honolulu pilot domiciles and are they super senior?
whats the current time limit on recalls? How many years do they have to get back before they must re-apply as new hires?
HAL,
Are you flying the 767 or 717 at Hawaiian, and are you happy you are back and away from the USAir debacle? And, have you flown to SYD yet if you are on the 767?
Understaffed is an understatement! Have you seen the daily flight schedule lately? It looks like having free and clear reserves is a foreign concept to scheduling!Still have 52 on furlough. No word on when they will come back, but just like alot of airlines nowdays-we are understaffed.
And here I was beginning to think you didn't love us anymore Mr. President! When you headed back this way, we still need to get in that reunion.
Steve! It's been a while, but I have three PHX trips in May. I'll e-mail you the details.
HAL (still waiting for my turn in D.C.)
HAL,
How many trips do you have per month? A three day is worth about 12-14 hours to the West Coast, right? So, do you do 6 ot 7 of those? The SYD flights must be worth 20 hours. That would be a good mix, a few PHX and a couple SYD. Are you guys still doing ANC flights? Also, does the SEA base just have out and backs, or do they have 4 day trips? Just curious.
Bye Bye--General Lee
So, what about this Continental rumor?
Gen'rl,
Most of our trips run between 10 and 11 hours, whether they are two or three day trips. Trip rig is 1:4, or 6 hours per 24 that you are gone. Not many of our trips run into that however, just a few with long layovers. LAS runs about 11:30 pay and credit, and PHX is just over 12. SYD is right at 20 hours for the four-day trips, plus a little trip rig for about 23.5 hours pay and credit for the five-day trip. Unless they bid for a lot of SYD flights, most people have at least seven trips per month, and some have eight or even nine (if they do the 2-day trips & want high time). We're still battling with scheduling on how to do our reserve as they've been trying out 'mixed reserve' and other methods of dividing up the open time. It's hard for them though because if you have six three-day trips you max out your available days for the month (18) but have only flown 65 hours or so, and that doesn't make a legal line. Some of the junior guys get a reserve schedule, then have those trips placed on it so they're flying every available day, but only getting the minimum pay - 75 hours. Since I'm climbing more toward the middle of the FO pack now, I get a little more choice. My preliminary May has 3 PHX, 1 LAS, 1 SYD, and a couple days of carryover from another SYD. That's not too bad, but it's still 18 days away from home.
The ANC, PPG (Samoa) & PPT (Tahiti) trips go pretty senior because although they include a redeye, they are flown as a turn with heavy crews so we can get our 10+ hours pay and credit, and only be gone for about 12 hours. By flying those trips you only have to work seven days a month, and sleep at home every night.
The SEA crews only do 2-day out & backs to HNL and OGG. They may complain about the schedule (two on, one off, etc) but they still don't want to be away from home for more than one night, so that probably won't change anytime soon.

C'mon F.D., don't tell me you're one of those weenies that can't handle 5+ hours in a cockpit. Oh yeah, you 737 guys don't have cockpits, but something more like moveable phone booths instead. Ya gotta try life in the widebody lane!At least 7 trips per month??? At least 14 crossings in a month?![]()
Thanks for all of the good info. So, did you say you were trying to bid SEA? Well, you still would get to layover in beautiful Hawaii I guess. I bet SYD is nice this time of year. What a change from LAS and PHX.

Yep, AQ guys are flying 5 three day trips a month. Now we can fly 6 if we want 85 hrs. Most guys are avoiding that though.
Our 3 day trips on average are 12:30 to 13:30 pay credit. If you fly an add on tag to say KSMF, KLAS or KRNO you'll get in the 14's.
Yeah yeah, .82 is max speed, but .78 is ultra fuel conserv mode. 5000lbs an hour. Not bad eh.. Can't wait for the Q400's to start crossing so we can pass someone...:nuts:I guess that is what happens when you have to fly high and slow! Long live the '37.

Besides, that just means 14 landings a month, instead of 14 landings in two days like the interisland guys!
